Allowance System..

Okay.. the allowance system is in.. generally the idea is to keep you from downloading more then twice in a day. It's not perfect.. but hopefully it will reduce the number of hits I get in a day.. and reduce the transfers.. and its cost to me.
Like I said.. it's not perfect.. but for the stupid it will hopefully be some form of hinderance. =) Please don't make me build something more difficult for you the users.. and leave an opinion for me. Or money.. I would prefer the money.. to be honest.. it will me pay for the costs of this server transfers. -

I'm sure this has pissed off some of you.. but this month alone.. I transferred over 100 GBs of video files.. 99% of that is downloading. So I have to take the higher quality videos offline.. and I'm going to initiate the allowance system probably tonight.
This means.. I will only allow so many downloads a day per computer. It won't be completely fool proof.. but if the leeching conitues to bo this excessive.. I will only make a few downloads available a month.. and will rotate the videos... and if it's still bad.. I will build (or at least try to build) a fool proof download system. -
New Ideas and New ways of downloading..

I decided to help reduce traffic a bit.. I'm going to build a allowance system for downloading. What this means.. is I will allow for 2 downloads a day on a specific file per computer.. and no I'm not going to use any javascript or cookies..so you can't evade the allowance system that easily.
The reason I'm going to do this.. is I'm getting too many repeat hits from people.. and I'm going to suffer a very large cost in transfer bill from the co-locate ISP. If that doesn't work.. I will use more paranoid approaches and I will remove the higher quality downloads.
Just an FYI. - New R.A.P. IDs.. 2002-06-09 21:09:53 I finished a bit more work for the Otakon 2002 tape.. I now have 3 of 3 video-icon IDs done.. as planned. If can organize and film the 4th one I will be happy. Considering I needed an art gallery and the only one I know of (that I might of been able to film at).. isn't around anymore.. So, I'm kind of at a loss.. until I can figure something out. If I can get it done before the tape construction for this year.. then it will be in the tape.. otherwise.. I guess I will have to wait till next year. Oh well =/
