My roommate leaves.. he takes his cable modem with him. I lease one from the cable company. This transpires in about a day.. (less then a day, actually). All my friends whine.. about not having internet..
Is this really a problem for you? it's not for me.. if I don't have the net.. I just go outside and doo stuff. Don't get me wrong.. I love the internet.. but really, is it that terrorizing if you don't have email or the net for a day?
