JOURNAL: DTJB (James Brown)

  • Nope, no. Sorry. Nevermind. 2005-07-21 18:10:53 Forget what I said last time. Whoever called me at work wasn't who I thought it was. So perhaps no one had any interest in me anyway, big deal, I'll just keep my eyes open, as usual.

Good news for me at work, about a day or so after one of the girls quit, we got two new ones to take her place. This makes it easier for me because I won't be working as much as I was suppose to. I met with one of them already, and it looks like she might be able to handle the deli, but I'll just have to see how long both of them will last.

The deadline for the project has been extended two days, and the vocab quiz, which I won't be ready for, will take place the day the project WAS scheduled for. Hopefully I'll use this time to my advantage, because I really need to get this sucker done. Hopefully I'll spend a lot of time on it tomorrow, but I doubt it.
  • Someone may have noticed me. 2005-07-14 18:46:09 The girl I mentioned who called in sick two days in a row was finally quit. 'Bout time, if I were one of the supervisors, I would have just canned her. Apparently, things just got too difficult for her. It's good because I liked her, but I was starting to get sick of her constant purposeful absence. The bad part is, until we get a replacement, I'm working everyday except Mondays, hope this doesn't become a problem for my report, not that I 've been spending as much time on it as I should. But aside from all of the bad stuff that's been happening at work, there is something that I'm happy about.

A girl from the cage department may have actually taken a liking to me, fancy that. I won't say too much right now, because I don't know how things are going to turn out between me and this girl, but she did call me on the phone as I was working, said hi, then hung up. Weird, put that in the stalker category, because I never did anything like that to any girl I liked. I just walked up to them and talked to them. I can't imagine what this girl is like because it appears that she has noticed me, but I haven't noticed her yet. Well, I'll try to notice her, and I'll keep you all updated.

I have 19 days to finish my project. I've gone through all of my resources and have picked exactly what I feel will work for the paper. Even though I haven't written a word yet for the rough draft, at least I'm doing a better job than one of my classmates. Thanh is doing his report on key encryption, problem is, he doesn't really know what key encryption is. The kid hasn't found any resources and doesn't know where to find any. He's gone to me for help because I look like the smartest guy in class, yeah right. I gave him some suggestions, like trying a better research topic, but with a little more than half a month away, I don't see how he can come up with a decent 10 page report, considering we have another project to work on and a vocab quiz to study for. Guess he's S.O.L.

Sammy sounds like a lonely, depressed, goth kid with no real life and no one to please but his own sick sad worthless self. Go ahead and put me on your list, 'cause I won't give a rat's ass.

madbunny has a very good point. Never leave any stone unturned! It can be anyone.
  • Wanna hear me bitch about work? Too bad. 2005-07-07 19:04:58 The July 4th weekend has come and gone. And let me tell you, holidays are the worst time to be working at the casino, because apparently no one can think of anything better to do on the holidays but go to the casino. This wasn't the problem, having worked holidays, I saw it coming. What I didn't predict was the fact that one of my co-workers called in two days in a row. That meant I had to stay overtime one night and let the others suffer another (what, I can't be generous enough to help out all of the time. I've got to have some selfishness in me). Anyway, the girl got her act together (was forced to) and things are turning out as usual: free food, idiot patrons, friends and morons for co-workers, blah blah blah.

Friday, July 29th. No matter what else happens on that day, it won't be as cool as when I go to the Huey Lewis concert at the fair. Some people probably don't like this guy, for stupid reasons I can imagine, but I can't give enough props to this guy. I was practically born and raised on the "Sports" album when it comes to music. I put way too many scratches on that record to be sure. It is totally going to be an awesome show. KISS may be my all time favorite, "but the heart of rock and roll is still beating".

Uncle John is back again, doing the same thing he did half a year ago. Sleeping on the couch while Food Network plays on the T.V. He's recuperating from heart surgery, so he's staying with us to get the much needed rest he deserves.

While Sammy's journal has become everyone's source for comedy here, EmiLang1000 is my new best friend here. And Emi, if you're reading this, no I'm not stalking you, sorry to disappoint you.
  • Ahh. Solitude. 2005-06-23 15:42:10 It's a moment I always enjoy. I don't really do much when it happens, but I love it anyway. My parents are leaving town for the weekend. I might go to the pool, eat out, look after the cats; you know, the boring single guy stuff. The reason my parents are gone is because they're picking up my aunt who's been out in west Asia, she loves living abroad. She's in Minnesota right now and is going to stay at the house for a while, possibly in my bed, but who cares, I have the house to myself, that's reason enough to celebrate.

Haven't really done much for my 10 page project yet, but I've picked out some magazines that I want to use as sources. Now I just need to photocopy them up. I'm doing it on peer-to-peer file sharing and asking the question of whether or not it can be stopped. My answer, no.

Projects are going as slow as molasses. At least I'm working on them.

Misty Caldwell has a good point. More music videos to Huey Lewis' "Power of Love". Hell, more Huey Lewis music videos in general. I know a few songs of his I want to use, "New Drug".
  • "...looking for adventure, and whatever comes our way." 2005-06-16 14:43:26 My dad has always had this little desire of his, to take his old run down motorcycle he's had for some 20 odd years and get it working again. Recently, he's finally acted upon that desire. He's headed out of town for the weekend to get it fixed up, the brand is a Boston. This is kinda cool. I remember when I was little, I'd always jump up on the thing and pretend I was riding it, figuring that dad would never get it fixed. Amazing to see that it's finally happening and I can't wait to see what the finished product will be like. Who knows, might inspire me to get a license.

Believe the hype, the final Star Wars movie was bad ass. Incredible how everything comes together as a lead in for the prequels. Grievous was pretty cool, for a cocky wanna be. Seeing all of those Wookies makes me want to get my own army...of Wookies, "don't make me send out my army of Wookies on you!" The only two gripes I had were at the end (spoiler), where Vader does his Frankenstein impression coming off of the stretcher and how they brought out the old 70's set and costumes for a few seconds. Don't get me wrong I'm glad they did it, I just wish they did it for all of the prequels, that way it would look more natural, in relation to the original trilogy (end spoiler). Still a great movie overall.

Flint, I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I hope everything turns out fine for her and that nothing serious happens as a result of the situation.
