  • SNOW! Yeah!!! 2005-11-18 19:42:07 While the rest of the nation was getting pounded with a bunch of tornadoes, most of Iowa got a huge snow storm on Tuesday. This makes me really happy. One, because the sight of snow has always lifted up my spirits. I always get this warm fuzzy feeling around winter time. The mood I'm in is always pleasant. And two, now you guys won't have to hear me bitch about global warming so much anymore. Most of the snow has melted now, but it's still there. If you guys haven't gotten any yet, don't worry, I bet it's going to come pretty soon.

Met up with a friend I haven't seen in a long time. It was really good to see her too. We met a long time ago in show choir. She always seemed troubled by what was going on in life (being an adolescent teenager and all) and I can only wonder what she has been through since I last saw her. The two of us use to have a weird relationship, I always acted like a father figure to her, but that's the way I saw it, she kind of wanted a little more out of it. Still, we managed to be good friends and it's really good to get in touch with her again, we have a lot of catching up to do.

I've got some free time off of work coming up so I'm planning on catching up with my movie viewing. Want to rent Run Lola Run at some point and watch A History of Violence and Jarhead before they leave the theaters.

'Been watching the Boondocks. Awesome series. Just as offensive as Duckman and still extremely funny. If you can handle social satire with an opened mind, check it out. Or do what Riley tells you to, move the hell out of the way!

Along with a new computer, I'm currently trying to see if the phone line in my house can support a DSL connection. If so, I'll be seeing fast downloads at my house in the near future.
  • WHEN LORD? WHEN WILL THE PERSON YOU'VE PICKED FOR ME ARRIVE? What? But I don't want to wait another 8 to 10 years. 2005-11-09 19:40:00 A while ago, one of the female security guards on the boat had really caught my eye. So I did what any love struck guy did, I tried to ask her out. I left subtle hints like, "you doing anything on Friday", or "when are you getting time off next?" Whether or not she got the hints is no longer the case anymore, because it never really mattered what I did in the first place. A few days later, one of the guys from the surveillance department talked to me. He said I was willing to hang out with him at some point in the future. At first, I wasn't sure what he was talking about, since I never said anything directly to him. Then he said, "yeah. My girlfriend said you wanted to hang out with the two of us at some point." Gears were turning in my head, but I still didn't get it...until he mentioned her name and that she worked in security. Bam. I was completely stupefied that I was asking out someone else's girlfriend, I just had to admit what my intentions were. He took my words in stride and asked me if I was still willing to do anything with him. I said of course. After he left, I could help but laugh to myself. Oh well, better luck next time, whenever that is.

Didn't get a part in the play I auditioned for, and for good reason. There was some really good talent that night. Might go to it, might not. We'll just see.

This Friday, a Groucho Marx impersonator will be performing in town, I am really thinking about whether or not to go. Groucho is/was one of my favorite comedians and it would be a real treat to see someone impersonate him. My mom thinks it's just like going to a Elvis impersonator, and while that is true, you don't hear about a lot of Groucho impersonator. So I figure, what the heck, lets see how good this guy is.

Well, the first video I ever made, Creatures of the Night, is nearing the 100 hit mark. I guess that means someone really want to see it. When I finally order my laptop (something else I need to do), I'm going to upload my three video on the site at last. But for those of you who are interested, you can enjoy them if you want, but the quality will be piss poor, since the only versions I have are on a VHS tape in my closet. I intend to remaster them as well, but it's all going to be a while, just have to stop being a damn procrastinator (yeah, like that will ever happen).
  • Glad that she's gone. 2005-11-02 19:30:53 Last night was the final night of work at the casino for the bitch, and I'm glad she's gone. Reason she left was because she need to work somewhere closer to home, since she doesn't even live in Dubuque. Even though we didn't really like each other that much (I thought she took her work a little TOO seriously and she probably thought I was a little slow upstairs) we actually left on good terms. As she left, I said take care and she wish the same for me. It's nice when people who don't always get along are at least nice to each other once in a while.

Got to Justice in Guilty Gear. It's true. He's is as cheap as hell.

Lately, I've been checking out Speed Demos Archives. It's basically a web site of videos showing the fastest completion of some classic video games. Usually, this involves less than 100% completion, these people just want to show how fast it can be done. I've seen the ones for Battletoads (no warps edition) and Castlevaina. Damn, puts all of my efforts to shame.

Gigantor started on Monday evening (to be technical, Tuesday morning before the crack of dawn). It was interesting. Not as great as anything I saw already, but nice none the less. It gives you a look at what anime was like way back then, kind of like the difference between Hollywood movies now and how they were 60 or so years ago. If you want to check it out, it's on at 4:30 in the morning (central time) on Cartoon Network.

@ Shayna. Well to each their own I guess. But one thing's for sure. Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo is one of the best shows around. "Hey girl! Sorry I'm late! Cheerleading practice ran long!"
  • Goodbye...my captain. 2005-10-26 20:07:26 Well, for once I may have found a reason to stay at work. The casino has this rewards program for employees who accomplish certain goals. Employees who are rewarded get a special poker chip and are invited to a party to hang out with other employees who received a chip. I had always been wondering when I was going to get one, and because of my hard work, or because of the fact that I've been bitching about not getting one, I received a chip. Feels kind of nice that I've been noticed. I still think the job is a bitch, but it's cool that the higher ups are thinking about he now and then.

Guilty Gear arrived in the mail over the weekend. Plays pretty fast and a lot of the characters are pretty bad ass. I always knew I was going to like this game ever since I played G.G. X2, but it's still amazing. Haven't beaten it with any of the characters yet, but I've used Sol Badguy a lot and made it to Testament. Can't wait to unlock her, or is it him? I'm not sure. Anyway, I hear Justice is really cheap so it's going to be pretty hard to unlock Baiken without any cheats or anything like that.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of major league baseball. I'm not even a real fan of the White Sox. The only teams I really liked are the Cubs (mostly because they're located in the Midwest and, hey, why not. Gotta root for somebody) and the Indians (blame it on my dad). Still, all I can say about the World Series is...STREAK! STREAK! STREAK! STREAK! STREAK! One more game to go!

In what is probably the saddest news I heard all week, Franky Gee, a.k.a. Captain Jack, has died. Captain Jack was a famous Euro pop act that was well known in the video game world for having many of their songs available in most of the Dance Dance Revolution games. I'm not a big fan of dance or techno music, but Jack's songs were always catchy to me, fun to listen to when jumping on the dance pad, and he had one of the best gimmicks ever. I will miss his quite a bit, and I'll be looking forward to hearing his music again soon. Permission to party on sir. Permission granted? Thank you sir.
  • Just because you love something, doesn't mean you can't find a fault in it. 2005-10-20 19:48:02 A couple of weeks ago, I picked up the "Unmasked" album by KISS. Truly, not one of the best albums I've ever heard. I knew this before I even listened to it, but I was hoping for something better. Just to be safe, I picked up a vinyl LP of the album, 'cause I figured I probably wouldn't want to do a music video of any of the songs. The album was recorded in 1980, right after the band's "Dynasty" album, the album fans refer to as "the disco album", so "Unmasked can be referred to as "the pop album". A lot of the songs are very light. The only two worth listening to are "Is That You" and "Shandi". I could tolerate "Is That You" if the band ever did a heavier upbeat version, 'cause it sure deserved one. "Shandi" is a nice ballad and it's really popular, OUTSIDE of the U.S., heck the Japanese fans love that song, so it can't be that bad. Gene isn't really himself on the album, and Ace lost something as well when he wrote songs for it, "Torpedo Girl" is catchy, but way too campy for me. The only good thing to say about it is, well, "Creatures of the Night" and "Lick it Up" would be released a few years later.

This whole global warming thing is ticking me off. The temperature is starting to cool off, but the fact that it was 70 degrees outside yesterday was too much. And of course, the hurricane New Orleans got was a major part of the problem. I'm afraid I'm going to go through the entire winter season and not see a single flake of snow. Before you guys think I'm crazy for suggesting that winter is a good thing, I'll just say this. I love snow, but I really hate the cold that comes with it.

Mom's birthday was Monday, not much. Just ordered pizza and watched the latest episode of Harvey Birdman: Attorney at Law. That's the thing about birthdays as you get older, you don't celebrate them as much as you use to. You get a few gifts and you have a little fun, but it's practically another day of you're life. That's why I don't get AS excited during holiday and birthday time. Sure, I still like the whole gift thing, but that's one of the reasons why I have a job, so I can buy stuff.

Bought the original Guilty Gear game off of eBay a couple weeks ago. Now that the check has cleared, I just have to wait for it to come in the mail. Hope it's worth the wait.

Editing my "novel" is taking longer than I thought it would. I feel like I'm spending as much time revising it as I did when I wrote the rough draft. It's good to see I'm coming close to finishing my recent projects, in a sense, but this is just too tedious for me.
