Traveling at the speed of WHEEE!
2005-12-28 16:02:50
The DSL modem arrived yesterday and I am currently writting this from my house. No more journal entries from the school campus. Everything works fine so far, I need to figure out how to install Flash so I can watch Homestar Runner every now and then. Also, this means I can download AMVs and other videos in the privacy of my own home Otherwise, AMV production should come along alot faster once I pick up Premier. Stay tooned.
My parents had one of their regular arguments today. It's become a habit that happens once every month or so. My dad usually shouts and swears about something while my mom just says nothing and tries to avoid the situation. I believe that a good argument can help people deal the problems they have with one another, to just get everything out in the open, but mom doesn't really help matters by shuting up and not providing her side of the situation. But I figure nothing will happen because of the argument, they usually get started on little things. Besides, my parents have been around for THIS long, so something most be going right between them.
We've been getting so many new people at work with some of them leaving right away, it's hard to keep track of who's still working there. The good thing about it all is that I've been given a lot of time off. That will probably change once the new semester starts. I hope that with all of the new people coming in, we get some decent people soon. Most of these ladies still don't really know what to do because they're so fresh. I want to take care of that so I don't end up doing all of the important work.
Found someone who is willing to make some gloves for me for my Kazuya costume. Now I just need to find someone to make a wig for me.

It's probably a screw up on my part.

I still haven't gotten a call back on the status of my DSL connection, and I think I'm the one to blame on that one. When I sent the contract and survey to sign up for the service through the mail, I was confused as to how to write out the recipient address, since it wasn't written that well. I'm going to call the guys up tomorrow to see what went wrong and if there's anyway I can fix this, because I want a decent internet connection at home so I can quit going to the college computer lab to get hooked up.
It's, officially, finals week, even though I'm practically done with everything. My presentation was over a week ago and I had my trouble shooting final today. We had a written part of the test, but we took that as a class and it was open book (the benefits of having a lazy instructor). The hands on part was the real meat and potatoes. We chose a computer that the instructor messed up on his own and had to fix it ourselves. Took me an hour to spot all of the troubles, but it wasn't too hard. Taking care of the floppy drive is what held me up the most, mentally, because the data cable was inserted wrong (never was comfortable around those). But now that I have that taken care of, all that's left is to finish one more chapter in my Photoshop text book.
The holidays are upon us. Our uncle is visiting on Friday and staying for the weekend. I think our friends from East Dubuque are coming on Christmas to spend some time with us, and we are happy to have them since they have kind of fallen on hard times recently. The problem is, I'm working on Christmas so I won't be able to spend too much time with everybody. Kinda suck huh? But hey, even though I'm Christian, I'd rather have 8 days of light off from work instead of some kid's birthday. (end sarcasm)
I'm trying to get someone to make gloves and a wig for a Kazuya Mishima costume for the next time I cosplay, but I haven't gotten any responses from the people I've sent commissions to. If anyone reading this knows of a reliable costume maker, who can make decent looking attire, please contact me through a P.M. or e-mail. Your help will be appreciated.
Just checked out Fighter's Generation and it's got promo art for something that looks like Capcom Vs. Guilty Gear. Awesome. Looks like plans for the game are finally underway. It's about time.

Powered up, for only a moment though.

After an ungodly number of months, I finally leveled up my characters in F.F. IX where I can beat all four of the boss monsters that appear in succession on the Terra stage towards the end of the third disk. When I first fought these monsters, I was okay against the first three, but the last one easily kicked my ass. Luckily, I had a save state at a prior location and just needlessly leveled up all of my characters' abilities. Maybe Auto Life and Auto Regan were all I needed, but I think having all of the others will help me out. Now I can FINALLY continue on with the story.
Saw the Grand's production of A Christmas Story, meh. It was okay, considering it was an adaptation of a movie. Some of the moments couldn't be reproduced, so we had to use our imaginations (there was no car for the famous "Oh fuuuuudddddggggeee" scene, just two small benches). It was longer than I expected too, new scenes were added and a lot were rearranged. I thought most of the acting was okay, some of the kids were better at it than most of the adults. Kind of glad I didn't get a part for this.
We have a new work set up at the deli, and it sucks. It was designed with the thought of making our job easier, but it isn't. The cold table well (where we make our sandwiches) is lower than before, so I'm afraid I'm going to spill someone's meal into it as I'm making it. The tubs for the hot table well (where we serve the dinner feature) all drain simultaneously when you let the water, but we can only fill one at a time, instead of all of them at once like before. This makes the job of cleaning them last a lot longer than what I'm use to. And finally, the counter top is positioned at my eye level, which means I have to bend down to look someone in the eye when I talk to them. Apparently no one was thinking when they designed this set up, or they just made it on a whim.
Saw Jarhead a while ago. Great movie. It showed a look at people who were in a war as apposed to actually fighting in a war. Very well done with a lot of realistic characters. Highly recommended to the mature crowd.
Computer came in on Monday. Haven't done much with it yet. That's going to change when I get hooked up to the net.
It's finals week. I'm not too worried because our presentation to our client in Systems Analysis was on Thursday and that pretty much was our final. The only other thing we need to do for that class is finish up the documentation. I'm a chapter behind in Photoshop, but I'm coming in early tomorrow to get caught up. Other than that, there is no Photoshop final. The only thing I have to worry about is Troubleshooting. We have a written test and a hands on test. I have no idea about what's going to be covered on the written test and I'm not very confident when it comes to fixing a computer. I only hope it's going to be pretty easy.
I need to ask madbunny what martial arts style he practices.

Still Waiting
2005-12-05 20:31:46
The computer (which is a model nx9600) was suppose to come in on Friday, but it still hasn't. No biggy, I can still wait. E-mail an internet service provider to purchase a DSL connection. They've given us some great service before, so there's no question about whether or not the service will be any good.
Dad's motorcycle has arrived. Looks pretty good. There's an Native American style arrow painted on the gas tank, allowing the bike to keep it's retro feel. Dad can't ride on it just yet because it's so cold out, gas and oil has frozen up, so it will be a while. Still thinking about riding it now that it actually works.
@ Shayna: Saw your comic in the paper the other day. Really nice, I forget how talented you are at drawing. Keep up the good work.

Step One: Completed
2005-11-28 20:50:40
Been a while, so I have a bit to talk about. Placed an order for a laptop on Friday, should arrive at the end of this week. It's an HP, the style is, nx9000, or something like that, I'll have to look at my order form again. Now that I'm getting a computer, I just need to think about what to do with it. I got approved for a DSL connection so internet access won't be a problem. Not going to rush out and get Adobe Premier and Photoshop right away, but I still plan on doing it. Got to put my videos online and then remaster them, and I have to work on my recent project. Not sure if I'm going to make a website or not. My internet service provider will give me some free web space to make one, and I was planning on doing so with my stories and videos, but since I don't produce any material in a timely matter, why should I bother?
My dad's friend called a while ago and said his motorcycle is finished. Good news to hear, I was kinda wondering whatever happened. I hear that it's totally unrecognizable from what it use to look like. Can't wait to see it.
Saw Corpse Bride with my mom on Friday. Very good movie. Cute and quite beautiful, especially the ending. The fact that it was geared towards the kids kinda turned me off, but it was still a great movie. Nice if you're looking for something light hearted, yet a little morbid.
Saw the ad for Dead or Alive 4, or as I like to call it, Dead on Arrival. I always enjoyed the series, it's fun, but it's not great, if you know what I mean, but the new ad made it look cool. Wasn't centered on the ladies and it didn't use the overdone concept of sex sells. Kasumi and Ayane might team up, for once, and heck, Ryu looks as cool as ever. Itagaki may still be the biggest douch bag in the video game industry, but maybe he actually decided to put some thought into this new installment, hey, it might even be good.
The friend I mentioned from before, who I hadn't seen in a long while, turns out she's getting married in 2 years or so. Sounds cool, hope I get invited when it happens.
