  • I'm leaving our AMV studio 2005-12-03 04:47:53 Internal conflicts that has been going behind our AMV studio Arctic Tribe has now gone too far. Long story short; the differences between our founder/leader Venomi and me, both in the ideals about studio activity and in the way we think in general, have been made painfully clear. These differences have caused several heated arguments (not AMV-related) along these years. Latest one causing me to finally lose my composure. First time in 3-4 years.
Again after his failed attempt to arrange an open meeting for finnish anime community (in which 2 AT members were able to participate) he blew his top and demanded that the "idle" members should be banished from the studio.
Ethnic cleaning, they say.. This time he openly attacked me about it (Most likely because of the arguments lately. I really let him hear my say in the last argument.) and made it quite clear that he wanted me out for the reason of "inactivity". So I decided to just shake my head and walk away.
Now I can take a lot of verbal abuse, that's not the problem here. Main reason for me leaving is that during AT's long history we have had seen these fits every now and then, threatening the existence of studio itself (which is again, the case), usually because he feels "unappreciated". Before I have tried to talk through it by being diplomatic about it, but not now since I think it would just make things worse. This kind of uncertainty for the studio's existance in the long run can be quite stressful and eats up the motivation to work for it.
I'm very fond of Arctic Tribe as a finnish AMV studio, and I hope it can survive this one too. If it needs for me to get out I will do it. What I feel sad about is that I know the same thing will happen again even after I have left. It might happen next month or year from now, but it will happen.. and if they try to organize something at the next anime convention here I'm sure that Venomi will lose his top once again. For one reason or another.

For me. Nothing will change AMV-wise. I will continue my current project and start those project I have had in mind (with the exception of one AT-MEP-project perhaps) anyway. Only difference will be that I won't use AT's name anymore.
Actually this came out in the right time. Now I can get a fresh start for the next year ^_^

  • Didn't see that one coming 2005-11-18 15:47:39 Today.. I was again a bit bored and browsed through 4chan's (www.4chan.org) flash-page.
    *click*
    that's crap..
    *click*
    boring...
    *click*
    OLD
    *click*
    Bleh..
    *click*
    ... waaaaiiit a minute.

What I saw was a flash rip of my "Pacman"-track from AMV Hell 0.

    Ok... wow... just... err.. something.

(if you are fast you might still see it there before it gets dropped)
  • Stealth Studios 2005-11-04 03:16:19 When I made my first try-out AMVs I actually thought that I was doing something that no one else in Finland had done. So when I half a year later found out that there are other AMV editors here in Finland I was positively surprised, and joined their studio (as we all know). From there on we have acted as a country-wide community.. having IRC-channel, forum and traveled to several conventions talking about AMVs as a hobby etc. Time to time some new faces have emerged and joined and I thought that I knew most of the AMV-scene in Finland.
At this point 2 years have passed, and I haven't really payed much attention of what's going on here at the .org finnish-wise. Then one day I suddenly find out there's been a group (classmates) of editors doing this stuff separately for years too. Without making any sound. All the conventions and lack of feedback and stuff made me think that we AT-people were the only active studio/AMV-editors around here. I checked out some of their works too and they are not bad. Makes me wonder how many small studios there really are who just haven't come out to "public".
What also gives me the creeps is that they call themselves the FoxWorm Studios ^_^''

    also..

Someone asked me today translations for a finnish song. I gave him a rough translation, and I hope it helps. From time to time I'm also in need of translations and I hope I also get help from other people when I need it. Also at this point I want to say thanks to JCD who I keep bugging about translating those german songs ;)
  • CONfessions 2005-10-23 12:37:23 I was suckered into an Iron Chef contest...

22.10. was the date of TraCon (Tampere, Finland), an anime + rpg convention. Because of several reasons involving finnish funny laws about copyrighted material this year's AMV contest was an Iron Chef one. We brought our own computers on site, where we were given 2½ hours to edit and a song. AFAIK it was an Assembly (another "con") music competition winner from some years ago that we had received ok from the artist to use it in the iron chef.
Paavo "Tarantula" Härkönen - Funk Trap

Anyway. As some of you might know I'm not a big fan of the whole Iron Chef concept, since I'd at least want to use enough time to make my AMVs. With just a couple of hours I know I can't create anything half decent. So I went there with "Well.. I'll just put together something horrible in that 2 hours"-attitude. *shrug* They needed more participants and.. *shrug again* you need to at least try out almost everything. As for source material I joined in with 2-3 days of notice, and since I had the Pani Poni Dash! raws available..

..horrible results can be found from my ftp or at:

  • Avast! Shiver min timbers.. 2005-09-19 08:17:07 Aye! It be the pirate day today. I am your captain Rancid Bernard Dregg. Today I gotta go smartly make me some clips to play with later in the afternoon. I still got me some rum so it will be mighty glorious editing night ahead in my galley. Arr. With this grog I gonna make me one hell of an AMV. So you bloody land lubbers should run away from the coastline since t'is going to be yet another drunken editing evening!
