  • Lookin' at a green sky/ Sun like a red eye/ Bright blue horses are the forces she lives by 2002-04-02 00:26:12 Counting Crows......damn, I had forgotten how good they were. Nice and mellow, upbeat when needed, always good.

Interesting weekend. I discovered on Friday that I am a weak, spineless person when it comes to Evangelion. I found the boxed set on Amazon for $110 (as compared to the usual price of $170, and the total individual disc price of $200 [8 discs X $25=Fat stacks o' cash]). So, no matter how much my logical/rational side told me I shouldn't buy it, and that I might not be able to afford it right now, the other side of my brain screamed "screw you, it's Eva, and that's final." So there I stand, a weak, broken (but happy) man O_o

I also ordered the FLCL volume 1 DVD from Amazon back in February (it wasn't released until last week), and it still has yet to ship. I don't get it. Oh well, whatever. I've waited this long, I guess I can wait a while longer. Oh the creamy Gainax-y goodness that will be mailed to me. Wai >X-D

And finally, on the subject of DVDs, I picked up Clerks, Chasing Amy, and the South Park movie at Best Buy earlier. They were having a special, and I couldn't pass it up. Yeah.

Anyhow, other points of interest during the weekend. Hmmm.......did some editing on my current video, and in the middle of the process, I got a bit of a scare. Not from Premiere, but from my computer itself. Suddenly, the hard drive light turns on (no flickering or anything) and then it blue screens and tells me it can't write to drive C. Beautiful. Just beautiful. I rebooted, and it did the same thing. So, I let it sit for a while and contemplated what could be wrong with it (I thought the file system had screwed itself, or the drive was dead). I come back later, unhook the primary drive (the culprit), and try to book it into the Linux partition that I have on the second drive (that didn't work, since the OS chooser needed both drives). So I hook up the primary, and reboot. And what do you know, it's just fine and dandy. I think the cable might have slipped or something. I don't know, and I just hope it doesn't happen again. And setting Premiere to auto-save every 5 minutes or so is a beautiful thing, since I didn't lose any progress whatsoever (well, anything worthwhile at least).

Anyway, Easter. I took Brandon and Jeff back with me, my sister brought her boyfriend Ben, and the Soto's came for dinner also. It was quite a crowd, and how we ended up STILL having leftovers is a mystery to me. I was so stuffed that I felt like I would burst, and there was still more to eat. My mother has a bit of a problem with gauging how much to cook (usually overshooting). However, in her defense, I will mention that we were expecting my cousin Chaz and his possibly his roommate to come also, but neither was able to make it (I think Chaz got sick, and his roommate just couldn't make it or something). My parents gave us bags of candy, complete with small cows that, when pressed down upon, poop out jellybeans. Weird, huh? Yeah, along with all the rest of the contents of the sacks, I can feel the sugar shock setting in already.

We get back around 10 o' clock or so last night, and I have a buttload of Japanese homework to do. I finished that at 5 AM (I would've finished earlier, but I dawdled.....a lot). I got about two hours of sleep, went to my 8 AM class, picked up a study sheet, came back, took a shower, and went back to bed. Slept till about 11:30, got up, went to Japanese, and spent the rest of the day hanging out with Meredith. Fun. And that brings us to now. Lessee, today is April 2nd, which means that my dad is now 46, and my cousins Courtney and Ashley are 7. I already gave my dad his present over the weekend (a CD by Bruce Hornsby and the Range), and I don't know whether or not we are meeting them for dinner tonight or not. I dunno. I should check into that.

Crap on a stick, how did I write that much about my weekend?? Oh well, I don't feel like thinking about that right now, since sleep beckons.

    Mata.
  • When I look at the stars/ The shine of your eyes/ The sky it burns brightly/ Your presence tonight 2002-03-29 14:46:39 Ahhh, Rufio. Such good stuff. Just imagine a band that does everything that Sum 41 sets out to do. Either that, or Sum 41, but good.

Had a test today, and my Japanese class was canceled, being after noon and all (the governor always stops classes after noon here in Texas, which I think is dumb. why not have no classes today? Is that so much to ask?) Since then, I've been sitting around watching Tenchi Muyo! and doing little else. I'm probably going to do some clean-up work on one of my current projects, since I ran my progress by my sister. All I have is the intro so far, but she pointed out a few things I should tweak. I fully agree with her observations, since I was unsure about those parts anyway. After that, I plan on moving on and completing some more of the body of the video. It's nothing extremely special, but I think it will be enjoyable. Well, I hope it will be enjoyable. Anyhow, yeah, not much else going on here.

I'm leaving tomorrow afternoon with Jeff and Brandon for my house. Since it is Easter weekend and all, I figure going home is a good idea. I'm bringing Brandon and Jeff because neither of them can get home in time. My cousin Chaz is coming out to the house also, along with my sister and Ben (her boyfriend). We'll have quite a full ouse, so I think it will be pretty fun.

One more thing. Kusoyaro: Does the Arms Akimbo thing have anything to do with Freakazoid, and the ex-model guy who fought with his elbows? If so, that's pretty damn funny. I used to love watching Freakazoid. I need to track that show down, since it was so weird and off-the-wall. Hee hee, good times ^_^.
  • Then you can look real deep in my eyes/ Like I was a supermodel........uh huh 2002-03-28 10:57:05 Holy cow!! Someone's who's journal I've made it a habit of reading actually mentioned me. That hasn't happened, so it's a bit new to me. Anyhow....

Bowler: I would date Lauren if I could, but she is still in high school (I'm only in my second year in college, but yeah), and she is (Of course) already taken. Besides, the strip-tease thing was more of a "hey, that sounds fun"/favor to Meredith thing. And it wasn't just me she was talking to until 6 AM, since we were all up until then (Meredith, Jeff, Dathan, the Boy, and myself). But thanks for the advice. Lord knows I would like to, but them there's the brakes.

Actually, I don't have anything else interesting to say at the moment.

And, it's time to have lunch with Meredith.

    Soooo, ciao.
  • All that I needed to hear from you/ Something of value, but something untrue 2002-03-25 21:34:00 Well, it has been an interesting past few days. The couple upstairs continues to screw rampantly (and at epileptic speeds, no less). Jeff and I slipped a note under their door, saying that a little judicious moaning would make the act a bit more enjoyable for the listening audience, and signed it Management. Fun times. Talked to Meredith's friend Kyra earlier on ICQ. She had a few questions for me about video editing and software, and also wanted to get my opinion and possible support on a project that she would like to work on in a year or two. She was asking me if I would be able to edit video with multiple shots and whatnot, and I told her that if I had enough hard drive space that I could do it right now, for all that matters. She also mentioned getting our friends to lend their acting "abilities" (read: doing stupid shit in front of a camera), which would make it that much better.

Actually, speaking of video projects, a friend of Jeff's would also like to talk to me about a video project of his. He looked at my website and thought that he might like to work with me (even though he hasn't seen what little work I do have). I'm suddenly in demand for some reason. Hmmmmmm, interesting.

Got my Tenchi DVD box set in the mail on Thursday. HELL YEAH!! Now I have the source to redo my Goldfinger video, and to do several new ones. I have one that is so full of wrong that it's not even funny. EK mentioned the song in one of her journals. And yes, it is that bad. Hee hee, evil evil evil >|-D

Quick. Go here. Now. Kevin Smithy goodness and the yeah.

And now a synopsis of my weekend. My suitemates and I packed up our computers and things and headed to Meredith's house for a belated birthday party/LAN party. We played a lot of Unreal Tournament, and I have never heard the word "crotch" so many times in one weekend (Meredith's brother is a freakin' RIOT!). On Saturday, Meredith's friend Lauren (HOT!) came over to hang out with us and goof around. The main reason she came over was to participate in a psuedo-strip tease for me. Yeah, that's right, I had a couple of hot girls taking some of their clothes off for me (they stripped down to ass pants and tight shirts, nothing pornographic ----- darn). I ended up sitting dazed and confused with a feather boa around my neck and a big lipstick kiss on each cheek. The only thing I said for about 5 minutes was "Just leave me be". It was great fun. Lauren is pretty damn cool too. Not only did she tackle me twice (oh yeah), she also let us teach her how to play Unreal. On Sunday, Meredith, myself, my suitemates, and the Boy (her brother) went and played tennis for a while, which we all suck at. We all came back around 10 last night. I don't think we got to sleep before 6 AM the entire weekend, since we would stay up and talk about weird shit and goof around for hours on end. I've also discovered that a.) playing Catchphrase or Taboo with friends with dirty minds is quite a trip, and b.) you should not put Meredith and her Nerds on the same team in Taboo and expect to win. Oh yeah, we own at that game, since we can practically read each others' minds. It's creepy. Trust me on this one.

On the way to and from Meredith's house, Dathan and I started playing that Top 5 game from High Fidelity. I still think the best category was "Top 5 Songs You Would Want Playing When You Entered a Room". My #1 in the best band name category was ...And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead. I haven't heard any of their stuff (yet), I don't know whether or not I like them, but that wasn't what was being measured here.

Final note: Got Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on DVD over the weekend, and that movie is so great. The humor is more slapstick, instead of conversation based like the rest of the movies, but considering that one of the characters doesn't talk at all, that's not too bad. Well, I should get back to the whole lotta nothin' that I was up to before this long ass journal entry. Nooch.
  • How about the ability to kill a yak at 200 yards, with MIND BULLETS!!! That's telekenisis, Kyle. How about the power...to move you? 2002-03-19 13:34:14 I love Tenacious D. It's some bitchin' shit. Ok, I have a website now. It looks like absolute ass right now, since most of the links don't work, and the html composer I was using was flaky. The download links from this website work, but don't bother visiting, because all you will see is some text stating that the site is screwed for the time being. Jeff and I (mainly Jeff, since I don't know html and he does) have some work to do, but when it is done, I think it'll be pretty cool. You even get to see me and band of miscreants I call my friends (nah, they're all cool. heh heh heh ^_^) Still no progress on video, but I think I may work on that tonight. God, I procrastinate entirely too much. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and you know a video of yours must be interesting when you find some random page hosting it and touting its goodness. See for yourself:
    http://www.anime.ghost.pl/video/Anime%20Music%20Video%20-%20Fuel%20-%20Hemorrhage%20-%20Princess%20Mononoke.html
However, I could only infer that from the "Super!" at the beginning of the paragraph. The rest of the page was in Polish. At least, I think it's Polish. Apparently, my little project has made it across the ocean. w00t!!! That's just kinda cool. Although, they did mess around with the file size, but at least they made a note of it (something came up about 54.3 and 16.5, so I'm assuming that that is what they mean). That would make it a bit smaller at least.
