Two classes down, and two to go. Constitutional Law is so going to r0xx0r my b0xx0rs. And that's bad.
Anyhow, I'm over in Meredith's room right now, where we came up with an extremely wrong idea for the Honor's Follies. I guess I should explain what that is, shouldn't I? -_- Meredith, Dathan, and I all were accepted to be couselors on the Honor's Retreat, a camp out in which the Honors students get to hang out, meet one another, and prepare for the coming school year. The Follies is a talent show in which you go up on a stage and embarrass yourself. I did a stand-up act my Freshman year, which actually went pretty well. Our idea was to perform "Hangin' Out With the Horny Girls" by the Scabs, with my friend Matt playing the piano, and Dathan and I singing. God it will be so WRONG. Meredith and my friend Carol will run out at the end of the song and drag Dathan and me off of the stage, and come back out for Matt. Whee, we're evil >X-D
Not much else happening. I wish I could have seen EK's latest bit of wrong, but I hadn't checked back in while. I guess that's what you get for being lazy :-p
6 more hits and I'll have 666 hits on the Journal. Scary.
Oh yeah, and today is Zoo day. I would say it's some sort of weird gimmick or something, but it's not. We're just going to the Zoo today. Wow. It should be fun, but damn it's gonna be hot. Blargh. We should get going pretty soon, so yeah. Later.

Konnichi wa. Ohisashiburi, desu ne? I hadn't checked back in a while, since the site had been down and all. But it's good to be back. Kudos to Phade for his hard work and speed on getting this back up and running, so you can all listen to my absent minding ramblings again >X-D
Lessee, what has been going on, other than the whole lotta nothin' that defines my existence? Hmmmmmm.......okay, to start, my sister made Photography block here at U of H, which is kind of like an upper level band that you have to audition for. If she didn't make it this time, she would have had to switch to Art History, since she is in her 4th year already, and she would like to graduate sometime (some people are so picky, don't you think??). If I get out in 4 (I'm in my 2nd right now), and she gets out of block in 2 (it's a 2 year program, so that works :-p), we could very well graduate at the same time. Wouldn't that be weird?? Yeah, a little bit.
Okay, now on to academics. I have two tests on Monday, both of which are the non-cumulative finals for their respective classes. I need to start studying today for those. I had to write a 10 page paper for my Constitutional Law class earlier this week, which really sucked. I think I did okay, but whatever. I was up all night writing that thing, since the research I had done previously didn't help me out very much at all. All I need is to pass that class, and then I never have to deal with poli sci.
I need to get Jedi Knight 2. That looks and sounds like such a bad ass game. I can get it after I get a summer job. I need a rolling chair too, but I need to have a positive cash flow before I can buy anything else. That, and I need to whittle down my credit card bills too. And fix the starter on my car. Crap on a stick. Oh well.
Quick note. The comic Sinfest is pretty damn cool. Any comic in which God and the Devil are calling each other "Fuddy-duddy square" (Devil to God) and "Punk-ass bitch" (vice versa) is pretty cool in my book. That, and God has a pretty cool sense of humor. Check it out.

Finally, computer issues. I got the TV OUT on my video card configured properly, so now I can watch DVDs and videos on the TV. It's not a big deal, but it will come in handy at home. (I had to buy an RF Modulator, so I can bypass the VCR (no RCA input on my TV), and that's working out pretty well also.) I'm really enjoying Windows 2000, since it actually has proper memory protection, and crashing a program won't take down the whole computer.
YATTA!!! I got my video setup worked out too. I got a copy of Pinnacle Studio 7 (Thanks Gnutella!) and the DC10+ support for it. Then I found out about the Morgan MJPEG codec from the Aluminum Studios website, and after some experimentation, it all works. I found that I have to capture my source in Studio 7, and then just import it into Premiere. Since Studio doesn't install the codec in a way that Premiere can read it, that is where the Morgan codec comes in. This allows me to import the files into Premiere and work with them without crashing anything. Unfortunately, I re-encoded my files to DivX 5 (baka, baka, baka), and while it saved me space, it led to more problems with Premiere than it solved. Switching the files back would take a long time, and I would be losing quality, so I had to get rid of all of my source, but that's no big deal, since I had finished maybe all of 20-30 seconds of either of the projects using that source. I think I will set aside my projects until I get home for the summer, and work on them then, when I have more time, and nothing to study for.
Well, enough of my yammering. I need to study anyway. Later.

I keep quoting other bands, but it all comes back to the good old Dave Matthews Band in my book. Old school Dave, that's what I'm talking about. Back before that Glenn Ballard chickenshit got ahold of them and screwed their style up horribly. I mean I like Dave and all, but there is a very talented and capable band behind him who is not being used to their full potential anymore. And that's just wrong. Oh well, so it goes.
Lessee, new events in my boring little world. I switched to Windows 2000 the other day, and I have to say that I am very pleased with it thus far. My DVD player works, all of my videos and mp3s play, and I can browse the web easily, so I think I have all of my bases covered. EXCEPT ONE. I tried to work on the two videos I have lying around on my computer, and I discovered that I cannot work on either. Not because Premiere screwed up on me. NO, that would be too easy. No, I found out that I can't read my source video. I used my Studio DC10+ to capture a bunch of stuff into MJPEG format, and I don't have the codec installed. But when I try to install the Studio software, I discover that is doesn't support 2000. So I go to the website. Their solution is for me to spend another $60-100 on Studio 7, which now has 2000 support. Great, I have to spend as much on a program to get the card working as I spent on the card itself (well, I didn't buy the card, it was a gift, but whatever). So, I have decided to screw the man and find it online. I have Jeff searching for it, since he has the most stabel Gnutella client around, and I think he has several downloads going now as we speak. So that should be resolved shortly. I hope.
So, if you couldn't tell that I have not gotten any work done on the videos, then you haven't been paying much attention, now have you?
Now to classes. I was signing up for classes on Friday, and I ran into two problems. First, I can't sign up for this drawing class that I would like to take until all of the department majors are signed up first. No big deal, I just have to remember to do it. Now, on to the crappiness. I tried to sign up for Intermediate Japanese, but I am told the course is closed. Nani nani NANI?!? I knew there couldn't be that many people signed up for it yet (Honors College gets priority registration, what can I say), so I checked the online coursebook. And it said that the class never existed. Kuso! And I was looking forward to learning more. Oh well, at least now I can petition my 1000 level Japanese for credit (you need 2000 level courses, but if none are offered, you can petition 1000 level for credit). So I went ahead and put in a science course to finish off my university requirements (Principles of Drug Action, oh yeah >X-D). It worked out, but I wish the university had gotten their info straight before putting out the course book. I guess that's too much to ask.
Bad things: I have to replace the starter in my car, since the one I have now only starts if you push start it, or if you just try it about 6 or 7 times. Or if Meredith is trying to start it. She appears to be the only person who can start my car anymore. I dunno, maybe it's because she's a girl, maybe she has some sort of magic touch, maybe she's just lucky. I give up.
Good things: Went and played in the newly renovated fountain the other day. I only planned on wading in and messing around, until Meredith ran over and tackled me. Took some interesting pictures involving Meredith, Dathan, and the fountain jets (the fountain is actually more like a large shallow swimming pool with fountains in it). Yeah, and we played frisbee too.
Saw Death to Smoochy last night. Weird, weird movie. I would review it MCWagner style, but I don't have the patience (nor do I remember quite enough about the movie to do it effectively). I can just say that seeing Edward Norton in a Rhino suit with a horrified look on his face while a Nazi banner is being unfurled behind him in slow motion makes for an oddly beautiful shot. The angle at which it was taken helped the picture a lot. Robin Williams was crazy in that movie (more akin to his old roles, when he wasn't making weirdo kid movies). The plot was convoluted but coherent. Very funny. I recommend it to all.
One last note. MY EVA BOXSET SHOULD BE HERE ON MONDAY!!!!! W0000000000000000000000000000000000t!!! Oh, and good times will be had by all. And by all I mean me.
Now, I need to do some listening practice for Japanese, since it is due tomorrow, and I have yet to start.
Mata.

Bjork. Not only fun to listen to, but fun to say. Bjork bjork bjork. The name kinda sounds like someone getting the dry heaves, but her music is so weird and good.
Speaking of weird, I watched the first three episodes of Boogiepop Phantom today, and man oh man, is that show screwy. I really have little to no idea as to where it is going, but I want to find out more. To me, it's kinda like FLCL in that respect. I was so stupefied by FLCL, but it mystified me enough to make me want to see more. I didn't know what was going on, but the bizarre happenings made me want to know more. Getting back to BPP, I really don't know what to say about it at the moment. I'm borrowing the box set from a friend, so I guess I'll find out soon enough.
Lessee, I've got some Japanese homework to do, and some studying to do for the test I have on Wednesday. Also have advising tomorrow, so I can finally get my schedule for next semester worked out. I'm probably taking Nonlinear Editing (read: make videos using Adobe Premiere. Hmmmmm, I wonder if I'll know what I'm doing >X-D), Astronomy (blow off science course), Japanese 2 (why not?), and Fundamentals of Drawing (I might have to drop this to make room for something actually pertinent to my major, but I would really like to take this to get some more practice on my drawing technique). I need one more class, but that is what advising is for. Oh well.
After the homework I might get some work done on either of the videos I have sitting around. I should, since I keep saying "I'm gonna work on it, I'm gonna work on it, blah blah blah, I'm a retard." I wish I could have seen EK's "I Love Beans" video. Everything I've heard about it sounds pretty damn cool.
Oh, and by the way, if you can buy Lewis Black's "White Album", do so. It's sarcastic angry goodness, and it's funny as hell. He's one of the few "angry" comedians that I've heard that is actually funny. He doesn't just sit and yell like Sam Kinneson (who I find absolutely intolerable). He raises his voice, but only for emphasis. It's great. Speaking of good comedians, check out "Dressed to Kill" by Eddie Izzard. A British transvestite who talks about the British conquering the world with "the cunning use of flags". Good stuff. Anyhow, gotta get to work, since I have wasted enough of the day as it is. So, AWAY!!

That is what today has felt like so far. Not depressing or anything, but just odd. I come back to the dorms, only to find absolutely no one around for the past 2 or 3 hours. It's kinda bizarre in a way. A bit unsettling to boot. Anyhow, on to other news. The sound card I purchased a while ago ended up causing more trouble than it fixed. I finally just removed it last night, and went back to using the onboard sound. With the other card, I had only one channel sound (the onboard has full duplex), and the gameport (for joysticks and stuff) didn't work, since the card's drivers overwrote the onboard drivers. So, I wasted $20. Oh well, I think I'll just hold onto it, in case I or someone else actually needs it.
Lessee, anything else new? Well, I got Marvel v. Capcom on an emulator yesterday, and that is a damn cool game. Being able to fight using Megaman is just too cool ^_^. Classes are going okay, got a test on Friday (at 8 AM. BLEGH!! >:-0 ), but that should be fairly easy. I need to start studying tonight. Well, I think I'm gonna go track down some people and see what is up. Ciao.
