These are the times when magnetic poetry would be useful

I just got back home earlier today, and spent most of the day away from the house. Had some errands to run, and met up with some friends of mine from high school. Well, a lot of them, to be correct. I met with a couple of them to go see Monster, Inc., which was a good movie, even though I missed the Star Wars Ep. 2 trailer before it. I then met up with two more at Taco Bell, and then about six more when we went to Slick Willie's to play pool (billiards, not that kind of pool, jackass; the place was named Slick Willie's, but it's not that kind of place, so get your mind out of the gutter, you're blocking my view). We then all ended up at Denny's, sitting around telling offensive jokes (well, two of them anyway), and catching up on old times. My roommate Brandon was with us, since he came out to Katy with me instead of going home to Minnesota. I thought he should at least have a good meal on Thanksgiving, 'cause that's just the nice guy that I am ;-) I had to introduce him to everyone, and we had a good time. I haven't seen some of those people in a long time, so it was good to hook up with them again.
Well, onward to tomorrow, where the gorging shall commence. On turkey, on dressing, on potatoes and yams! On olives, on dinner rolls, on to Christmas hams!! Wait, I think I'm mixing my seasons. Oh well, Happy Thanksgiving all. Catch ya later.

Simple life's my cup of tea/ I don't need nobody but me/ What I wouldn't give just to be left alone

I hate class. I got 2 papers and a test back, and I don't like the grades on the papers. The test was just fine, since I got a 93 on that, but the paper from that class (Intro to Communications Theory) got a crap grade. I got a 77, not because I used the concepts wrong, or because it wasn't long enough, but because the grader had issues with my use of VERB TENSES. Apparently, when telling a story about someone, every verb has to be in the same tense. They thought I wrote the entire thing in the present tense, since I introduced the character in the present, but the rest was fairly consistently in the past. Since when has this been invalid?? This writing style has worked in every one of my English class (honors classes, mind you), but they don't float in this stupid fucking Comm class. And the only answer I get from the prof is "I thought freshman english was supposed to teach you that." Well, it might have, but I didn't take it, since I was too busy TESTING OUT OF IT THROUGH AP AND THE HONORS COLLEGE HERE AT U OF H. Stupid muumuu-wearing whore, go back to drinking your Mop n' Glow and shut the hell up. I'm not usually this bad, but this really pisses me off. YEARGH!
Oh yeah, and the other paper was from my political science class, which I got a C+ on, which isn't bad, since I'm still not sure I know what the professor wants from me. He grades on improvement, and considering my first 2 papers were F's, I guess it's not too bad. But, on an upnote, today is my last day of class before the Thanksgiving break. Hooray! I get some time off, and some real food for once. I'm not looking forward to the time after Thanksgiving, since finals are coming up quickly, but whatever, this is goof-off time. Whole lotta nothin' to do, and little time in which to do it, so I gotta get started.

I'm gonna throw you in the ocean/ And see if you swim

I have felt like crap this whole day. I didn't get near enough sleep over the weekend, and I'm paying for it now. The only problem is, whenever I get a chance to take a nap, either I find something interesting to do, or I am not tired by the time I get back to the dorms. Well, I have a feeling I will be going to bed early tonight.
On a different note, I have one more file on my website. It's not much, but some friends of mine said I should put it on the net somehow. All it is is a wav file of Kuroneko from Trigun doing his usual "Myao". I snipped this out of one of the tracks on the second Trigun OST, and I use it as my event alert on my computer. I've surprised some people when my computer suddenly "myao"ed at them, and it's pretty funny to watch their expressions when it happens. Hee hee, great. Well, time for food. Later.

Blargh, with the bad and the such
2001-11-18 15:40:59
Wow, this has been an interesting 24 hours. I spent much of yesterday goofing around on my computer and trying to finish reading stuff for a Psychology paper I have to write by tomorrow. However, around 10 or 11 pm, my friends Amber and Josh and I set out to meet my other friends Jeff, Meredith, and Dathan up at Dathan's house. It is approximately 1.5 hours north-northeast of Houston (where I am right now), and I had never driven there before without Dathan in the car with me, so let's just say that the trip was a bit shaky. Anyhow, the reason we were going up there at that time of night and coming back now was to watch the Leonid meteor shower. We spent several hours on the roof of Dathan's house (which is actually a renovated two-story body shop or something like that, and the roof is very large). It was cold as hell up there, and I only happened to be wearing shorts and a t-shirt (yeah, I know, I should plan these things beforehand, but that would involve.....thinking), but it was great fun. We stopped counting after we had seen about 260, and we could've at least made it to 300 or more. Dathan's house is in the middle of nowhere, so we had a great view, and it was empty enough that we could all sing and yell all we wanted and not have to worry. We sang Christmas carols, oldies songs, and made up some very perverse things that I don't think I should repeat. The shower itself was beautiful, with long streaks of light piercing across the sky, and some were actually bright enough to light up the roof. We climbed down after a while, since most everyone was cold and ready to go inside, and so we all crashed in various places in the house (Meredith, Jeff, and I slept on the floor of Dathan's room, and my back is still kinda bitching at me for it, but oh well).
Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I would recommend it for everyone, except a.) the next big meteor shower isn't for quite a while, and b.) I would recommend using someone else's roof other that Dathan's. I don't think his parents would appreciate it.

There I said it. Now I can go dance with the gnomes from the sink next door. Joy!
