With the quickness and the yeah

I started working again yesterday (Friday), and I gotta admit, I don't really like working. Just in general. Although, it is nice to keep busy. The new store I'm working at isn't too bad, and several of the people seem to really like me and think I'm "responsible". Ha ha, fools, how little you know ^_^ Anyway, I'm leaving town some time tomorrow morning, to spend a night in Oklahoma City with my grandmother and various other members of my dad's family, and then it is on to Tulsa to spend the rest of the week with my mom's family. Fun. Oddly enough, I'm rather looking forward to an 8+ hour drive, just because it gives me time to either sleep, or catch up on listening to CDs that I burned but didn't finish listening to. Started reading "Catch-22" by Joseph Heller again. Good book, a recommended read. Well, gotta go. Later.

Went to a party last night, and saw Lord of the Rings with about 10 or 12 of my friends from high school. I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I thought that that movie was bad ass. I wish I had read the books before seeing the movie, but this makes me want to read them even more. The special effects were cool, and the scenery (the New Zealand countryside) was beautiful, and it complemented the story very well. I can'e wait for the next one. I really liked this one scene in which a secret council was meeting and the "Fellowship of the Ring" was formed. It was rather enjoyable to see Agent Smith from the Matrix (Hugo Weaving) as the elf king Elrond, and Trevelyan from Goldeneye (I can't remember his name) as a ranger or knight or something. I thought it was funny, but that's me. Anyway, just thought I should say that. Later.

Cannon........are you unnecessary noise?/ When fire meets powder.....

Ok, so now at least I have a job. I'm working this Saturday, and next Saturday, since I'm leaving on Sunday and returning the following Friday (so much for a full work week ^_^). I've been sitting around all day (well, since noon at least) watching TV and listening to a burned CD of Burning Airlines.
I've also been thinking back to somewhat recent events, and marvelling in how one event can change so many things. I was reading Biography (the magazine, based off the A&E show), and their #1 biography of the year was Rudolph Guliani (I think I spelled that right). I read the bio, and was amazed at how much they left out. Sure, he has done a bang-up job since the Sept. 11 thing, but what about the hubbub surrounding his mistress and his former wife? Or what about the morality committees he was forming to censor artwork? That one really pissed me off, since at the time I was taking a Philosophy and Art class, and I heard a lot about it. So what if a naked black woman is standing in for Jesus in "Yo Mama's Last Supper"? So what if he thinks a picture of a crucifix in a jar of urine is "anti-Catholic"? He has no right to tell them what they can or cannot do or make. A large part of what this country is is the right to free speech and expression. Besides, if you didn't know the crucifix was in urine, and just looked at the picture, it was actually rather pretty, with an ambient amber glow to it. Anyhow, back to the point. I just think it is funny how one event can just erase all other blemishes. That's all.
Some other things worry me about the aftermath of the 9/11 thing. The hyper-patriotism in the country is a bit odd, especially since some of the most adamant people were the same ones who were criticizing the government beforehand. The government goes from "evil money-grubbing corruption machine headed by a complete moron" to "saintly can-do-no-wrong freedom machine headed by our glorious and superior leader". Also, the Art Car Museum here in Houston has also run into some trouble with the FBI, since someone thought the show they had there (which did carry some critical political views) was a "clearly un-American activity". A bit paranoid, I presume? I mean, come on, it's a damn car that's painted funny. It's not that important. I hate how paranoid people can get when something like happens. Now this is not to say that I don't think bin Laden should get what is coming to him, but the attention span of the people of this country is a bit worrisome. But that's me. *steps down from soap box*
Wow. Yeah, I've got too much time on my hands lately. Well, gotta go, I think I hear the FBI calling ^_^ Or maybe it's my friend Darren. I should call him sometime. Later.

I really, REALLY hate having to deal with my parents' dial-up connection (33.6 modem=good time is had by all, and by "all" I mean "no one"). No matter how spotty UH's network is, it's still better than this. That and their computer is so damn slow (it's a P1 133MHz with 16 megs of RAM, and I'm used to my Athlon XP 1.533 GHz [or 1800+, whichever] with 256 megs of DDR RAM). That, and the Hollywood Video I'm trying to get my job back for Christmas at needs to get their thumb out of their ass and give me my job back already. It's been over a week, and still no job, and I need money. Okay, and enough of my bitching. Sorry about that, but I needed to vent a bit. Anyhow, not much going on here.
Still trying to get the settings on my DC10+ nailed down. If anyone has any tips or tricks for using it, I would like to know, so email me at evil_genius_39@hotmail.com. And I have a question for anyone who would happen to be reading this at the moment. What is the earliest AMV made? I know the first ones were probably done reel-to-reel or tape-to-tape, but still, I'm just curious. If anyone has any idea, contact at the above address.
I'm leaving for "home" (which would be Tulsa, OK, a good 8-10 hour drive from Houston) on Sunday, and I will have no access to a computer, so no video work to be done then. I'm debating on whether or not to even start until I get back, or to just take notes, capture the video, and wait until I get back. That way I could just sit down and hammer it all out in short order. But, I have to weigh that against my inherent impatience. Oh, what a tangled web we weave. Anyhow, I should go. It's almost.....HOLY SHIT, it's 4 AM. Damn, no wonder I'm tired. Later.

I want love, waitin' for me after school/ Like a stream of consciousness, every time I take a breath

Thought I would drop a quick note to the journalness and the yeah. I finally got my DC10+, and I've been testing it out today. Works very well, but I can only seem to capture through Premiere. Oh well, it was a gift anyway. I was there when my dad bought it for me, since he was not comfortable enough to buy it on his own. Neither was my mother, even though I told them exactly what it was, and where to find it. However, this means I get to play with it before Christmas ^_^ Spent most of the day capturing video from the band video from my senior year to send to a friend of mine (yes, I was a band nerd too. Now I got computers and anime to add to that list. Now there's a f@*#ed up resume for you, but people don't seem to mind. Hell, some even like me for it ;-) ) Well, gotta get off the computer. Later.
