  • Doreen......Doreen/ Last night I had an awful dream/ You were layin' in the arms of some man I never seen/ Come clean/ Doreen 2002-02-25 02:26:55 Wow, this last weekend was neato. Got back earlier today from San Antonio. My friends and I went so we could see Meredith's brother Tristan and her friend Lauren perform in thier respective all-state ensembles (Tenor/Bass Choir for the Boy, and Concert Band for the Lauren) at the TMEA convention (Texas Music Educators Association, in case you were wondering). Meredith and I spent much of Saturday wandering around the convention hall, during which she bought an english horn (not impulsively, since her mother got there a day or so before us and had been researching since then). We got to hear a man play a fugue on a mini pipe organ (Hellz yeah, it was bitchin), got to sample fundraiser cookies (good stuff), and just hung out for a while. Dathan was moping about for a while, so that was annoying. He gets in these funks where he just swings from good to Mr. Gloomy McDoom in the span of a minute or two. And I don't see how one could do that, what with all the cute girls (and there were a lot of them) and a DAMN STEEL DRUM BAND!!! YEAAAAHHHH!!! That was so fuckin' awesome!! The performances were great, and the atmosphere was nice. On the whole, a great weekend. Unfortunately the lack of sleep is catching up with me, and I need to study for a Japanese test that fell by the wayside due to the exploits of the weekend.

Oh yeah, and one of the weirdest interjections into a conversation I have ever heard: When discussing Meredith's unusual proficiency for radiating large amounts of heat from certain areas of her body (e.g. the nether regions), Jeff and I were interrupted by Meredith, who said, "Hey Jared, what are you doing on your birthday?" All I had to say to that was, "Meredith, you're the best friend ever." Then again, this is also the same person that thought that popping out of a cake in a Felicity Shagwell costume and dancing around for my birthday was a cool idea. I love that crazy hooch.
  • She's wearin' too much lipstick tonight/ A little black dress, a little too tight/ She tries to make small-talk but it drips with spice 2002-02-20 16:49:20 Wore my new Megatokyo shirt today, and it drew a surprising amount of attention in my Japanese class. Kinda like my Black Knight from Monty Python shirt. Having strangers stop you in the middle of a courtyard or entryway to a building and frantically asking you where you got your shirt is kinda weird. Oh well, c'est la vie.

Made my first entry into the forums last night, and frankly, I was surprised to find how rude and vindictive some of the people in there could be. I mean, half of the thread I was reading ("Hey Big Mac! [ErMaC]) was all mud-slinging and office politics. I guess I didn't know what to expect. Now the recurring jokes about hamburgers were pretty funny though, and some serious discussion was had, but geez louise, there was some cattiness in there. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and EK, I like the three designs, but I personally think you should go with "A", if only to make use of the "I'm so happy, I'm spitting graphite" line. I will agree with Bowler that "B" showcases your artistic skillz and whatnot a little more accurately, but the more tongue-in-cheek feel of "A" suits the site a bit better. But that's me.
  • I'm in the sky tonight/ There I can keep my own sign/ Watchin' the wide world ride, and I come down/ I'll be comin' home next year 2002-02-19 23:35:16 Gee whiz, I do love that song. Anyhow, just a few quick notes. The download links should be functioning again, sorry about the inconvenience. I had no idea that they had not been functioning for over a month, since I had only gotten two problem messages from this site. Oh well. And congrats to all of those who were winners in the contest. And good job to Tylor G. for the logo. It looks nice. Well, that should be all. Later.

Oooh wait, I almost forgot. Check out a crappy picture I did for Mac Hall (online comic). The URL is
    http://evilgenius.firehead.org/Kuroneko_Trouble.jpg
It should work this time, since it is on the same site as the videos. Okay then, now THAT was everything. Ciao.
  • Was I out of my head?/ Was I out of my mind?/ How could I have ever been so blind? 2002-02-18 19:51:28 Today couldn't be termed as a "bad" day, but it was not really great either. Got up early, made it to my first class, only to be bored out of my mind for an hour while the teacher droned on about "content analysis". Lynn didn't even say a word the entire class, or after, so, yeah. Whatever. Anyhow, I picked up some breakfast, came back to the room, finished reading Winter (another one of those online comics that I have been so involved with, and this one is damn cool). I spent some time ripping three Everclear CDs to put on our media server, since we had several incomplete albums. Also ripped "Freak Show" by Silverchair, all three Foo Fighters CDs, and the three Green Day CDs that I have. Lots of music. I was rather surprised when I went to my next class, since we spent the time watching Men in Black, a movie I haven't seen in a year or two. We only watched about 30 minutes of it, then talked about genre mixing, and what was going on and how it was presented. Odd. Oh yeah, and a pop quiz in Japanese that was fuggin' HARSH!! It was basically a word scramble, in which sensei gave us the words of the sentences, but we had to put them in order. Yeargh.

Anyhow, on to other news from the front. I spent last night studying kanji for a test I thought I had today, but was pushed back. I also drew some fanart of the comic Mac Hall. I hope they have seen (or at least heard of) Trigun. If you want to see the pic, I put it up on my site:

I hope the download link is working, because I checked on the site earlier and nothing came up. I need to talk to Jeff, since something must be up.

I finally started editing my new video, and the intro is going to be crap. I can feel it inside of me. Or maybe I'm just hungry ^_^ I just hope it doesn't end up sucking. But if I think that, I'm going to get discouraged and stop, which I won't allow to happen, since I have been on my own case to work on the damn thing for this long. Anyhow, there are so many more things I am going to do with that video, so maybe a somewhat weak intro won't hurt me too much. Besides, it's not like I'm trying to win any awards or anything. For now, it is just for fun.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Evil Genius Productions may be getting a new member. YAY!!! My older sister has been getting some ideas for videos that she suggests to me, but I'm just not feeling them. She can already see the video in her head, so I told her that she should try making them. I could give her Premiere, and a friend of mine has a DC10+ that she is trying to sell for $20 bucks (it works fine, but it doesn't agree with her system). So, that is why I may have a second member. This story is also why I have the first DVD of FLCL on order (I found that on Amazon the series was being offered as three discs instead of six, which is much easier on the wallet). We both need them as source video, so I figured "what the hell?" and went ahead and ordered it. Unfortunately, this version (which I believe is the sub/dub combo, with a side of fries and a medium soft drink) isn't available until March 26th, so I'm gonna have to wait. Suck ass. Wow, I didn't realize I had written this much. Who'da thunk it? Yeah, that's enough out of me. I should go. I'll be back later (and yes, that is a promise, AND a threat, so HA!). Bye.

P.S. Two things - the movie "Showgirls" was terrible (I finally saw it this weekend when my friend Meredith wanted to see it again. Gratuitous T&A do not a good movie make. Oh yeah, and Maynard Ferguson is the shit. Peace out.
  • Adventure? Excitement? A Jedi craves not these things. 2002-02-15 14:32:18 So, I says to the guy, I says, "I, friend, would rather have a bottle in front of me, than a frontal lobotomy". And they he started shooting, so past that I dunno.

Hee hee, it doesn't make sense to me either.

I got all of the anime and stuff off of my drives, and I gave up on encoding the DVD, because it was taking too long, it was a pain in the ass, and I don't even have to mess with it now. So, later tonight, I should finish capturing for the video, and then I'll actually start editing. Hooray!!

Well, Valentine's Day was interesting. My parents always buy gifts for my sister and I, so she got some earrings, and I got two DVDs (Dogma and the Matrix [which I have on tape, but I have no qualms about having the DVD also]). Later in the evening, about 8 friends of mine and myself went to Katz's Deli, a New York style deli that serves kosher food. Great stuff. I actually tried mahtzah ball soup (I think that is how you spell it), and it was some good stuff. And the french dip roast beef sandwich is damn good. Fun times.

Today has been a bit odd also. It started out with me skipping my first class (well, I was up late studying, so what?) and then going to take my test in Media Production. That was pretty easy, and took me about 20 minutes to finish. Then I head to Japanese and sit outside the room for a while, only to find that sensei was having car trouble, so one of our fellow students was told to instruct the class. This meant we could all leave as we pleased. We came in, signed in, sat and talked for a bit, and then left. I was in the classroom for maybe about 15 or 20 minutes before I left. So that brings me to here. And here is hungry, so it's lunch time! w00t! Later.
