Cut the kid some slack/ Cut the kid some cake

Okay, here's the situation. No one can download any videos from my site at the moment, since I guess the university is wondering what kind of "university" business the server is serving. So, apparently Jeff is going to put some business on there, and then institute bandwidth controls, to keep things from getting out of hand again. Hopefully, it won't be too long before the server is back up to full. Just thought you all might like to know.

Got a new Dismemberment Plan CD from my friend Darren, and it is exactly what my collection needed. Something weird and complex and full of talent and whatnot. The CD is called "Change". You should check it out, especially the songs "Face of the Earth", "Superpowers", and "The Other Side". It's the D-Plan's last CD, since the band no longer exists -_-; Shed a tear for the D-Plan. I had an idea using the second track "Face of the Earth" and Escaflowne, but I severely doubt it would work very well, but the line, "Her pupils gone wide and she's blown/ From the face of the earth" is interesting if you think about it in Hitomi's sense. A pillar of light appears, and she gets lifted off of earth onto Gaea. Some other parts of the song might work, but I don't know about the song as a whole. It might not work. Then again, I would have to go and buy the DVDs to get any decent source material, since all I have is the DivX rips (which I just finished watching earlier this week). Being that I have no money, this would definitely have to wait. Phooey, and I really love this song -_- The guitar part is just so odd and jangly, it's just awesome. Oh well, enough of my ramblings. Oh, and if anyone thinks they could make it work, go for it. But, if you do, you gotta give a brutha his dues, right? ^_^
Anyhow, enough of my babble. I've been on a bit of a dry spell, AMV wise. I'm still trying to establish a pattern this semester, what with all of the reading I have to do, the job I'm starting on Monday, and the "working out" that I plan to start doing pretty soon. Apparently, I am going to be an intern at the campus radio station, which is the local NPR affiliate. It's a professional radio station, so not many students are going to be there. I'm just glad that I'm going to start earning money again. I need to go ahead and start looking for some sort of summer job now, since I don't want to go back to retail. My desk job spoiled me for that. Any of you out there with those, if you feel like complaining, just think of those of us who've had to work in a hardware store, dealing with pissants who expect you (a cashier) to know where everything is in a warehouse store, and what everything does. Oh, and some of them get soooooo pissed when you can't answer their questions. I knew how to make change, and work a register. I picked up some stuff, but mainly odds and ends. Grrrrr, it was frustrating. I wonder if ADV offers internships?? Wouldn't that be cool? Take that love of anime and put it towards a source of income. Yeah. I wouldn't even mind being a voice actor. I think that would be fun. I tend to talk a lot, I can do accents and imitations pretty well, and I think I could lend something to an anime. So many dubs are pretty terrible (Evangelion, to name one), and I would like to think I could help them do better ^_^ Or maybe I should learn when to shut up. Whichever. I wonder how you go about getting a job as a voice actor with ADV or something? I know EK's boyfriend Brent is the dubbed voice of Nabeshin in Excel Saga, so I bet she knows how you get a job like that. Be kinda odd trying to ask her, since I've emailed her like twice. Yeah.
Went to dinner with my parents earlier, and Meredith came along. Ate at the Olive Garden. Good stuff. We had a lot of fun. Meredith and I had had some Chai from Borders (which is addictive as all get out, but that's another story), and so we were all hopped up on the caffeine, and talking 1000 miles a minute. We told my parents some of our old stories, and some from her high school days, and oh god, did we laugh a lot. If laughter is the best medicine, I think I just added about 5 years onto my life (and took 2 back off with the Tour of Italy that I had there). Yeah, good times.
Those damn copies of the manga "X" that I ordered earlier this month (January 9th) finally came in the other day (January 31st). It would have been sooner if a.) I didn't choose the Super Saver Shipping on amazon, or b.) the USPS didn't lose my damn package in the first place. I contacted Amazon, and they ended up sending it again. The original package is nowhere to be found, so I guess that's a lost cause. Oh well, I got my books, and now I get to revel in all the CLAMPy goodness. Ah, how I would love to meet these four ladies. I bet they're cute too. *sparkle*
Oh, what the? Sorry, inner fanboy came out for a bit. I need to watch that @_@
One last thing. I've been looking into a Wacom tablet. I've been wanting to do some color work and stuff like that with Photoshop and Painter, but a.) I don't have a scanner, and b.)it's a bitch to do with a mouse. So, I've been tracking a bunch of stuff on eBay. If I could get one for under, say $50, I would be a happy Jared. If only. I severely doubt that will happen, since all of the lowest prices I find still have several days left on the auctions. Errggh. I'd love to have one, but I don't have $2-500 to drop on one right now. Maybe another time. If anyone knows where I can find a good deal, email me. Onegai shimasu *bows*. Anyhow, it's really late, and I need to get some sleep. I've got a lot of reading to get started on tomorrow. Fun.

Around 280 dl's, and only one op. Huh. It's one from one of the people that review the earlier version of that video, and they actually liked the older version. Weird. Well, whatever. I made the intro to a new Eva video (yeah, like we really need more of those @_@) last night. I like the beginning so far, but the rest of the video will be a helluva lot more technical than the last two. Drum rolls and everything. Yeek.
Tried Pizza Hut's online ordering thing. Pretty neat. Got it delivered and everything. Yeah.
"I'm Real" by Jennifer Lopez, as performed by The Starting Line. Nice combination.
Have you ever had a time when you actually catch yourself wondering whether or not you want to be depressed now? I caught myself thinking that earlier, the reason being that the suite is empty except for me, and most of my friends are out of town (either they went home, or they are up at UT in Austin). I thought of some people to call, but I haven't really talked to them in a while, so it would just be kinda weird. Besides, I have some reading to do, a video I just started, maybe some drawing to do. Yeah, that's right, I draw. I don't think I'm all that good, but whatever. I might create a new page on my site and start posting some of these things. Not that anyone would be very interested, by whatever -_- I also have a box set of Bubblegum Crisis:Tokyo 2040 staring at me from my desk. I guess I'll probably watch that while I eat, and then move onto something else when I'm done. Blah.
Oh yeah, by the by, if anyone happens to have a copy of Macromedia Director MX, I would be eternally indebted to you if you could send me a copy. Onegai shimashita (bows and scrapes). Anyhow, my food is getting cold. Later.

I think I have found a good non-AMV example of good timing and synchronization in a video. If you can, check out "Star Guitar" by the Chemical Brothers, and watch the landscape in the background. It follows the beats and rhythms of the song so well that it practically becomes an abstraction. It's pretty neato. It really caught me by surprise the first time I saw it on Much Music, and I taped it a while after that, only to misplace or record over the tape X-P Anyhow, either keep your eyes peeled on Much Music or MTV 2, or look on WinMX, Gnutella, or KaZaA for it. If anyone can't find it there, then drop me an email, and I might see if I can stick it up on my site. Yeah.
I want to start on a new video this weekend, but I can't decide what to work on. I'm debating giving my Mononoke video a workover, but another part of me wants to move on to something new and different. Decisions, decisions. Oh well, gotta prepare for Abnormal Psychology. This should be fun ^_^

So I say, "I doesn't change much/ Since I still don't think that much of your girlfriend"

Wow, I put that video up this morning around 1, and I've already gotten around 80 downloads. YAY ^_^ Maybe announcing it properly helped out some. Maybe....
Anyhow, first day of classes. All I've had today was Japanese, in which I had to write a 20 sentence essay about my break. That wouldn't be a problem, if I actually did 20 sentences worth of stuff -_- Mostly I sat around the house, watched TV, slept, or messed with my computer. I did get that AMV done, so that's something at least. I plan on starting another one pretty soon, like within the next week or so. Anyhow, I should go, since Discount Tire closes at 6, and I need to get a flat tire fixed. Fun. Later.
