You know, I might think about posting stuff about new videos or something that I'd made, but I haven't had a new one in a while. I still have my list of vids I want to do, but I'm starting to have trouble keeping everything in the context of anime. I'll listen to a song, and get pictures and situations in my head. However, these situations are rather specific, and I have yet to see an anime that would fit them the right way. I would have to have my own animation or something. Oh well, I know I didn't explain this very well. I just haven't had the time or initiative to work on a new video lately. Screw it, on to something new.
I've been 21 for a week now. Woo-hoo. Not very exciting. I did get a Gamecube for my birthday, and so Metroid Prime has been making constant plays for my time. I might play a bit of that now ^_^ Kickass game. That, and on Wednesday, I just realized what all I have to do this semester. Ergh. This next month is going to be interesting. I have a paper to write by Wednesday, and next month will feature 4 research papers (Japanese, History of Cinema, History of Animation, and Abnormal Psychology), 1 presentation, and about 17 reviews (15 of them movies, 2 animation). Shoot me. Well, if I'm going to play Metroid Prime, I'd better get it out of the way now, so I can get to writing. Later.

There are nights/ When you wonder where the party's at now/ And you wonder why you never split this beat scene/ When a higher life awaits

Huzzah, I finally got that serial adapter in the mail, so now my Wacom works. Hooray! So, now I've got some little art projects to work on. Fun. I'll try to post some links (if I can come up with anything good).
Oh yeah, got to see Chicago last night. Didn't think I'd wanna see a musical, but I really liked the way they worked the musical numbers in. They appeared to be more akin to dream sequences than anything. They really helped the character development along, and it was more interesting than just listening to the character tell a story or something like that. And the costumes......damn. They were some hot and sexy women in there. I mean, wow.... Yeah. That's one of the reason my friend Meredith suggested that we should go see it (she'd seen it before). Wow.
While waiting for the movie to start (we got to the theatre too late to see The Pianist, but too early for Chicago), I actually tried my hand at DDR. Holy crap, that is a workout. One of the guys playing was nice enough to show Meredith and me the ropes, and we all had a good laugh. All in all, I didn't do too badly considering I'm white (painfully white) and can't dance to save my life. I could at least find the beat and rhythm in the songs, so that helped. I'd do it again, but I'd rather have the PS2 version with the mat you could use in the privacy of your own home. It'd be cheaper than paying 50 cents or a dollar per round of songs. However, I would have to get a PS2 first. Argh, and I have very little money. Phooey. However, I do have a birthday coming up (I'ma gonna be 21, w00t!!), so maybe then. I dunno.
Nothing like playing a game and being shown up severely by a 10th grader -_- Oh well, at least he was cool about it. yup.
Well, tonight we'll try to see the Pianist. I hear it's a good movie, and besides, I need to write a report either tying a movie to a historical event (Pianist to WWII, Apocalypse Now to Vietnam, etc.), or about a benchmark film (Snow White as the 1st animated feature length film, etc.), so this work both ways. And I'll also need to write 15 reviews before the end of the semester, 3 of which need to have been seen in a theatre. Well, now I've got two. Yay. Anyhow, I have stuff to attend to. No, seriously, I do.
You know that guy, the one who's out? Yeah, that's Jared.

Crap, I wish I could remember everything I wanted to write all at once. It would be so much easier.

If any of you are going to be in Houston on March 8th of next month, stop by the Barnes and Noble at Westheimer and Voss around 2 pm. That's where the next Coffee with the Conductor is. I'll be the guy in the back running mic cables. Come by and say hi.
Or something.
I'm not getting my hopes up.

Another addition to my late night journal series. Not really a series, it just that it is always late when I think to write in it. No distractions, dark, quiet, you know the time. Okay, I could've sworn I wrote some big honkin' entry sometime after the 3rd of this month, but I might be thinking of the entry before that one. Who knows -_-? Anyhow, new business. Website is still superficially functional, but the downloads are still incommunicado. I hope to have those back up sometime soon. Not like anyone really cares, but whatever :-P Oh yeah, did I mention that I got me a Wacom tablet? Well, I did. I got it off of eBay for $60 plus shipping. The guy told me that it is about 10 years old and he's been doing professional work on it, but apparently it's built like a tank, which is rather apparent, since the package weights about 12 pounds ^_^ 12x12, baby. So yeah, I have yet another thing to suck up my spare time. I actually have a story bumping around in my head, and I'm thinking of making a comic of it. Maybe something I could put online, or something like that. I have some good ideas for it, but I haven't gotten into character design yet, so that should be interesting. I'll post anything new here, maybe some links or something. Getting this tablet will help out. And best of all, it should be getting here tomorrow or Saturday. Happy Valentine's Day for me!!
Ok, and now that I've brought up that infernal "holiday", I guess I should go into that a bit. Not like there is much to say, being that I've had someone to spend it with maybe once in the last, oh, 21 years. I know I'm not going to watch TV tomorrow, for fear of sugar-mushy shock. I think my big bit of celebration will probably be going to Freebird's off of 59 and getting a big honkin' burrito. Oh yeah, that's right, a burrito. Symbol of everlasting love and commitment, or something like that. Might see if I can get some friends together and do that. Last year was Katz's Deli (damn good food, and they never close). I dunno. Valentine's Day just seems to be a day when you either try to feign total love and devotion to someone, become depressed that you don't have anyone like that in your life, or sicken everyone else with your rampant displays of total love and devotion. Something like that. I'm probably grossly overgeneralizing, but I don't really care at the moment. It's 4:20 am, and deep thought is not my forte at the moment. Oh well, I think I'll just treat it like any other day, and wait breathlessly for my Wacom. Yeah.
Now, on to work. Work is okay. I'm currently interning at KUHF, the campus radio station, and local NPR affiliate. I helped run one of their events last weekend, which was Coffee with the Conductor. I helped set up sound equipment, pull little odd jobs, and all that rot. I surprised the guys I was working with apparently, since he didn't expect me to know very much about microphones and such. I don't really know how I know it, but I do. And that's good. The rest of the job has been updating an online events calendar, proofreading documents, sorting and filing, and the like. Not very exciting stuff. However, this is good experience, especially the events. I've actually been offered a small side job with one of my professors. He owns a small company that has a project coming up involving court testimony and video and stuff. Apparently, Steve (the professor) and his associates made a program that can make every word in a testimonial transcript a hotlink to that area in the video of the deposition. So, if you click on the word conflagration in the transcript, it will take you to the person saying the word conflagration in the video, and continue on from there. Fun stuff. Now the part where I come in. Steve hasn't gotten the video for this yet, and he doesn't know how much there's going to be, and how fast he's going to have to put it together. So, he's hiring some of us students to help synch up the video and the transcripts. I think he said that he's going to pay us $10 per hour of video. The good part of this is that if you get 61 minutes of video, you get credit for 2 hours. The bad part is we don't know how long it will take to do an hour of video. Also, he's providing food and drinks, and, if the night runs long, beer. So, I figure I can fit that stuff in somewhere. Maybe I can get enough money to pay for that tablet, since it's floating on my credit card right now. Hmmm....I've mentioned that tablet in every paragraph so far. So I'm a little bit excited. Sue me ^_^
Anyhow, I should get to bed. I have a class at noon, and 6 hours of sleep would do me some good. Later all.
