JOURNAL: Shin-AMV (Shin )

  • Moving 2011-07-27 11:35:00 Being in a new place is going to be awesome. The actual process of getting all your stuff into that new place sucks >.<
  • New AMV! 2011-07-02 17:15:42 Finished up a new AMV to enter into a youtube contest. I'll upload a version to the org soon.

  • First Ever Journal Entry 2011-06-15 19:14:46 So I decided to start writing journal entries. I don't know entirely what to write about so I guess I'll just introduce myself to those who don't really know me. Despite my username of tehninjaness (tehninjarox on youtube) both these nicknames were created a long time ago without any real thought to them and I prefer to be known as Shin which is a pen name of sorts I've used for more serious things in the past and AMV editing is serious business. :P

I first started the great hobby of editing AMVs sometime in March 2010. I had a lot of fun making them and decided to stick with it even though I was quite amateurish at the time, and for the most part still quite amateurish, but I don't let that deter me.

I've frequented the Org for years but was more or less a lurker who would just look up specific vids. When I started making them I was a little intimidated by the vast amount of experience everyone had but had a generally warm enough reception when I finally had the courage to post something in the announcement section.

I like entering contests a lot for a bunch of different reasons. It helps me gauge my own improvement and in a lot of ways keeps me motivated to keep working on a project to finish it from start to finish without letting it stagnate for months on end. This gets me into trouble sometimes as I always think that if I had a few more days/weeks I could come out with something better, but that also assumes I wouldn't further procrastinate.

I'm always seeking ways or techniques to improve and am always willing to chat about methods and take suggestions. Although those looking for opinions from me may find that I am generally easy to please and I will usually mention what I like and what works more than what could/needs to be improved. However, I'm always willing to Beta test for anyone and will strive very hard and be very discerning to find things that can be improved, but I generally lack a certain bluntness when it comes to constructive criticism. Some people find that nice while others can get frustrated when they really need to improve, so its a mixed bag.

I dunno what else to say other than thanks to all the kind souls on the org. For the most part I don't know why the Org has this reputation as being a vicious playground for editors to tear each other apart, since most people seem rather nice in their criticism and the few bad apples shouldn't spoil the bunch.
