- Good News on Nago, Part Ⅳ I've verified that all the videos damaged on Nago are present and uncorrupted on the backup server. We still have an hour or so of transferring these files to Nago. 2005-07-30 08:40:24 EST
- Good News on Nago, Part Ⅲ The MD5 check finished at 0459 this morning, identifying 10 videos to be replaced from backup. Doing so now. 2005-07-30 08:23:40 EST

Good News on Nago, Part Ⅱ
Nago status update:
- Wed., the verify on the array failed, and it turned out that we needed a new drive. Plans were made to replace one of the drives Thursday.
- Yesterday, I attempted to put a new Seagate drive in Nago. That didn't work; it turns out that Western Digital and Seagate place their IDE connectors in slightly different places, and thus the drive wouldn't fit in without opening Nago and adjusting the backplane. So, this attempt was abandoned. Also, a drive that had come loose was re-seated, giving one drive to work with. Began a rebuild on to this drive. Got that to work, but verify showed that a different drive was bad as well. Found a WD2000JB locally (thanks #AMV!).
- Today. Obtained the WD200JB, installed in Nago. Dropped out the bad drive, started a rebuild. Verify shows Nago is currently happy. Next step is to perform MD5 verify on the videos, then replace (from backup) any damaged ones. MD5 verify on the over 850GiB of videos on Nago will take a little while. Also, sent three defective drives back to WD under warranty.
- Tomorrow. Nago should be back in production.

Good news on Nago
After much fighting, we've suceeded in getting the 3ware controller to rebuild the RAID array. Before bringing the server online, a few more things need to happen (though not in this order) (1) restore a few videos known to be damaged from backup; (2) do a full raid verify, just to make sure; and (3) re-scan for bad-blocks, and do a full fsck (both of these are time consuming, unfortunately). In the very near future, we'll have (scheduled) downtime to upgrade to the latest 3ware firmware & monitor software, upgrade the disk drive firmware, and replace several hard disks out of the array.
Nago will be back soon now. 2005-07-27 19:47:39 EST - Still dealing with Nago... Nago's RAID array does not want to rebuild. I've put in a support request with our vendor (3ware), but they aren't open until Monday. Don't panic; the data still appears to be intact. Also, we have a backup of the entire server, if we really need it. Sorry about the downtime, though. 2005-07-24 16:15:31 EST
