Gundam Anthology

Hi there, newbie here. This is my first AMV attempt. It's a Gundam compilation AMV designed to tingle those nostalgia bones and appeal to your sense of grandeur and 'epicness'. I cropped every video the the same size but still haven't acheived true widescreen, haven't figured that out yet, and i'm not confident enough yet to use anything more than the basic effects, but for my first AMV I think I did a fairly good job. If you want, there is a youtube version available.

Thanks in advance.

Yea, I watched, 08th was the very first scene, which made me wonder how come I didn't see it listed on the vid's profile. I for some reason did not see the anime listed, I might have overlooked it.

Anyways, for the vid, that tbs logo was very distracting, I mean even though it was small, EVERY single time it came up I ended up being drawn to it and stare at it until it disappeared. And not to mention the interlacing...which I find odd that it is even there if the vid had such a watermark. Also, why was the footage 16:9 and rendered with a 4:3 resolution, it gave the video unnecessary black borders and the white flashes became very irritating to see with such an effect.

But aside from all that, the actual video wasn't bad, it kept me interested at least to see it to end...might be just because I love Gundam. You at least have a sense of timing, pacing, and scene selection. Although i got a tad bored during the "couple's" segment since I felt it came out of nowhere and sort of detracted from the video. So, for the most part, you have a good sense of things, keep it up and check out some of the guides for technical help.

Yeah, I don't really know how to make it the right resolution, I cropped all the videos in vegas to the same resolution as the most widescreen one (Char's Counter Attack) but it ended up being 4:3 anyway and "fake widescreen"

Would do you suggest would be better instead of the "couples" bit?

It was most likely that you never set up the project settings to the correct resolution in the beginning and it ended up rendering with that resolution. It's better to crop everything to the project settings instead of to one particular movie, especially if that movie is not set to the correct project resolution.

As for the couple thing, can't really say, I think it would have been better if you had set up the couple montage at the beginning, showing what all the protagonists are fighting for and what motivates them and go from there. Sort of like what you did at 00:15 with those two, if you had continued showing the couples around that segment it would have made more sense. But I think my main problem was the fact that it focused on so many couples at that particular part that it came off a bit as random, as if you said, "oh, i like showing these two, i'll show some more since i don't really know what to put here then go back to the mobile suits."

Indeed, indeed. I'll look into how I can set a project resolution at the beginning. It was quite experimental as a first attempt, I didn't really have much of a plan. Something to bear in mind for next time.

Not bad although you need to work on making the final file size smaller
