Hi everyone.

Here is my first try at editing video, resulting in some fast-paced action vid with surfing mechas synced on an early Prodigy track. Hope you enjoy this despite my lack of experience :P

Video: Surfing at Hyperspeed

this could save you some time:

There was a surprising amount of sync, [particularly internal/motion sync] for a first video-- Stuff that most people don't even attempt to do, let alone pull off. And you used a fitting anime/music combo. props. I would say a pretty good job. Some technical issues like the quality and aspect ratio, but reading through the how-to-guides should help with that. One thing I didn't like was the speed. While you did some pretty quick and very accurate editing, the song was yet even faster; particularly the drums. To really match the intensity of this song, the amv would have turned into a blur, and you avoided that, which might be a good thing... but doesn't make it feel as intense as the music, so I have mixed feelings on that. The amv is a bit long too, and since there wasn't enough of a storyline to warrant five minutes, it got exhaustive. I would suggest an audio cut if you use a similar song for the future. As a bonus, you'll have more footage to use, and I'll be more likely to re-watch it. The lip sync was a little overused, and wasn't as accurate as your other forms of sync; so for future videos, maybe cut down on that, or tweak it more. What I probably would have done differently is used fades and overlays. It helps transition the scenes better, and allows more footage to be used than straight hard cuts. Anyways, really good work. You seem to have a good sense of timing, and how the video and audio go together. I'll try to keep an eye out for your next video ;)

Wow, people can still make basic sync electronic videos without plastering particles and flashes everywhere? This was a pleasant suprise.
Actually, I would've enjoyed the video alot more without the lipsynch, which was annoying, unfitting and completely unneccesary. It's a real shame since it dragged down an otherwise excellently executed video with TONS of internal sync greatness. I also liked the fact that it's this long, meaning I was glad that there is more.

Also, I disgress with Phantasmagoriat, don't use fades for songs like this. The internal sync really shines through the hard cuts, which would've been ruined with fades

I'm a sucker for internal sync. I enjoyed the vid ^.^ aside from the lip sync. Felt a tad long :( For a first vid it was very well executed. Nice job. Can't wait to see your next :) Hehehe keep level headed :O

E7! *swarm* (will edit with comments later)

EDIT: Wow, this was actually really cool. It just got better as time went on, too. The beginning had some out of place slow parts, but you picked up the pace very well. I liked a lot of the sync, you were trying out a bunch of different stuff which is always fun. I entertained the idea that the characters had this tune stuck in their head while they performed all of these crazy stunts. If not, why cut to all of the lip sync. The lip sync WAS pretty bad, but for a first video that's what I expected. Certainly that's one area you can improve in.

ahhhhh I LOVE this anime! xD

and glad to meet another first-time AMVer! :) I recently finished my first AMV as well.

anyway, I really liked the video - I will have to disagree with the others on the lipsync, I actually enjoyed it quite much even though, yes, they could be more accurate, so may be tweak with the timings a bit.

the internal syncs were great and the cuts were overall pretty solid - there were a few shots near the beginning that I felt were slightly too long, and the speaker overlay you used as an external sync got a bit repetitive after a while (may be find a wider variety of images to use as overlays so people don't see the same thing flash ten times). I also agree that the video can be a tad shorter, or at least find a wider variety of shots to use - because most of the shots look fairly similar. the video is also fairly grainy with a lot of blocky artifacts, not sure if it's the source or the encoding, but given the file size of the video it really should look better, I would suggest looking into running the footage through some filters.

other than that, VERY good video! ^_^ 4/5!
