Stealed Footage from Amvs

Post by [Mike of the Desert] » Sun May 22, 2005 12:55 pm

I found this video about FullMetal Alchemist and I'm been stunned because I found in it some stealed footage. There are clips from my Zetsubou soshite Ketsui and from Tyler's Tsumibito no kashou, I always hate to notice these things because I don't like if for my fault others have problems (so I hope he will not have xP Maybe only a warn to not do that is perfect!) but I think I had the must of warn about this.
I personally don't want him have problems because of my note so the best would be to only warn him to not do that. But of course this is not of my judgement : )

i have caught two people taking clips from my videos, but from what i know its not the same cause you actually spent alot of time on the clip they took from you (from what i know)

I am told that there is a third person who took most of one of my AMVs but i cant seem to find the third...

anyways i know the feeling (sort of) and i hope you can sort it out...

what i did was I left an opinion stating that i caught them... one person doesnt seem to have videos anymore, and the other credited me in the video bio, the second didnt take any edits or effects that i made so i suppose i am willing to be satisified with that....

i am not sure what else you can do cept maybe to talk to a mod??? its highly frowned upon I know that, but at the same time its sort of grey.... its hard to tell what to do...

anyways wish you luck!

Report videos that use stolen footage to the modbox and they will be deleted.

[paizuri: They will be deleted from the local server, but we can't do anything about someone else's webspace.]

Oh well that is something I prefer to forget -.- At the time I also didn't have Tsumibito no kashou on my pc, that was a some seconds fma clip a friend passed to me, but even if I didn't know from what it was, I'm been an idiot using it -.- Poor me -.- Luckly I won some maturity since then.

(anyway.. you are cruel t-t)

Still don't know why people get mad over this, I mean it's not like you asked the creator of the anime for the footage, so why get mad when someone takes clips from your video. The only way I see them at fault is if they don't give credit to the original creator of certain effects used, transitions, etc. Even if you made original animated footage or something and someone decided to use it, why should you care so much or get mad about it. I only see a major reason to get mad over it is if only they don't give you any credit for the source footage.

If it's something you're going to get mad over, just think about how the creators of the anime series are feelin'. If you believe in fair use then why bitch about it? I've seen videos that use other AMVers clips like all the KOS videos, and I find it fun to watch. Also I am a big fan of remixes, so if someone happens to use only some of your clips(or non), and happen to do a re-make/remix of a video of yours, I feel you should feel flattered. ;)

I don't claim the anime footage is my own. The theif does claim the stollen edits are his own.

They never give any credit, they do steal effects, transitions, and edits. So, like you said, that's major reason to get mad over it.

I credit the owner of the footage, and any original edits I take from the anime. I believe it's fair use if you credit the owner. They don't credit the owner of the stolen edits. Apple orange, two different usages.

I'm sorry to hear you enjoy the canibalized mixes made by people cutting my videos up and bragging on how they did all the work. A big fan, eh? Yeah, it's great that they do nothing, let's pat them on the back. Whoot! What fun to watch these frankenvids. But you know...if we give credit to the thieves, why should anyone make their own videos? Let's all just mix up the videos other people have done and slap our names on them. How's that for art? Works for movie producers. It's all about using someone else's concept because you can't think of anything new of your own to make.

Blegh. I don't want to pay to host some thief's vid on the local server.

I tried since a lot of time to answer well to this quote but in the end what show what I think is: x2 :!:

It is complicated, for how much you can think "I should feel flattered?", in the end we come back to the quote of Arigatomina
