So are there like people whos only goal in life is to be jerks about AMV ratings? Cause thats the only explination I can think of for how no more then 30 seconds after I finished confirming my latest upload the vid has been given an opinion consisting of

"It sucks"

and an average star ratting of 1.2 something....

You know I really don't mind that there are some people out there that are just gonna give everything the lowest score possible. I've accepted the fact that on any site like this where the members vote in such a manner there will be people who vote eveyone else low just to make thier own scores look that much better. But it does bug me that all other inital impressions are put against that inital stupidly low score, making it really hard to tell what people who actually watched the thing think of it.

Then get the link to your vid, and take it over to the opinion page.

If it's an obvious flame - meaning the entire point is to spam your vid and insult the creator - then make the review public. Go to 'edit my videos' and then to the review and make it public (by clicking the box). Then go to the 'view opinions' page for that vid and copy the link. Drop that link in the Mods Drop box and ask that the flame be removed. If it's just an obvious flame, they'll probably delete it for you.

As for star ratings, you can't do anything about that. If a person gives every vid the same score (whether it's all 1s or all 3s) his stars don't get counted anymore. So if you see a 1 as the star average, it's from someone who gives a variety of scores and you just ended on the low end of the vids he downloads. Maybe he doesn't like it, maybe it's the anime, or capture quality, maybe he couldn't watch the vid and decided to take that out on you - whatever the reason, you're stuck with the star score he chooses to give you.

take the low scores as motivation to improve then.

also star ratings are going to vary all over the place until the video gets about 100 ratings. then it'll settle around a representative score. "that initially stupidly low score" is very imprecise.

and there are people who score low for reasons other than making their own videos appear better.

Although an unquantified "It sucks" is a bit of a pain to take, and not helpful to deduce any further meaning from than "I didn't like your video," it is probably a valid opinion from the person. Not a tolerable one and one you should get deleted, but an opinion nonetheless.

BTW, I am gonna leave an op for you...I'm not sure if you'll like it but it'll be quantified at least. :(

Half of the planet is full of people who were raised without manners or refused to learn them.

Get used to it.
