My AWA Masters entry: True? False?

Post by Tom the Fish » Sun Oct 05, 2003 5:23 am

I've put what has turned out to be my most satisfying AMV online. It was made for the AWA Masters 2003 contest. The song is True or False by Negativland. These culture jammers have been an influence to me throughout my life. They've fought Island Records, Kasey Kasum and SST over copyright laws. Hell, they took on the RIAA and won!

There's probably only about 30 seconds of footage in what turns out to be a 7:38 AMV. It's a little large at 103 Mbs, but I hope you enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it.

I was sitting in the back of the VAT room when this was played on Sunday morning to a crowd that was a touch hung-over and strung out to begin with. A minute or so into it folks were getting fidgety. By three minutes people were howling in pain! BUT EVERYONE KEPT WATCHING. Finally the VAT staff started a wave and the audience joined in, just to relieve the tension.

A moment of hideous sado masochism? Or a brilliant display of Andy Kaufman-esque cojones? True. False.

You know, it doesn't help that I was doing homework problems in set theory before watching this.

Damn you and thank you, Tom, for screwing my mind up :)

I enjoyed it. That is true. Which is false. But if true is false then the statement is false, which makes the succeeding statement true. And we get into a loop forever.

I agree. To remove that annoying sidebar or to keep it is a very difficult question.

Fortunately they're clearly marked, which makes it easy to get rid of some useless baggage (roughly 100 megs worth).

Excellent torture vid. In this aspect I'd say it beats A Total Waste of 6min 35sec hands down.
