Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

I think like Arashinome.

The final result is ugly and the fact that it's your first vid doesn't change anything. I don't care that you used Naruto though, and i don't deny that you tried to make something interesting and that there's a lot of work.

The sheer amount of stock effects made the video look REALLY shitty, but I give you major props for the originality factor and overall execution. You did something with this video that I don't think anyone else would have, and for that you get my approval. Well done, but be sure to lighten up on the stock effects for your next video ;)

And to Joey:
I love you man, but lighten up, honestly. Give the guy credit for being imaginative. Yeah, it doesn't look great, but come on, he made a lot of these scenes basically from scratch, and that should be worth something. I actually think this is the kind of imagination this community needs.

I give him credit for the idea and being imaginative, and i've also said he has potential as an editor. This shit just sucks, as most first videos do.

I didn't want to step in on this but seriously, no. Compare this not to the first but to the 100th dbz action video you made before you got your head out of your ass, grew up a bit, changed your name from vegeta119 and decided to play elite, and it's still a thousand times more creative.

It might have many cheesy untasteful presets and mediocre animation, but I give many props to a first video executed like this.

This. ^

Concept and the hilarity of the execution was the only thing worthwhile.

I have seen Arashinome enjoy a video from someone he never really seen edit before, in Laws of Stability.
And only his second video at that.

Arashinome wrote:Seriously...this amv is a perfect portrayal of everything that is wrong with AMVs today. You should all be fucking ashamed of yourselves. First off, 2 INCREDIBLY overused sources, horrible editing, terrible effect composition, fucking riot gear and preset bullshit everywhere, along with terrible masking. If the only reason you "liked" this was because you had to laugh at how pathetically terrible it is, then you get a pass. As for the rest of you...in the word's of George Carlin, "What's wrong with you people?".

I hate to be this harsh on a first video, but this video and the responses it has gotten has just baffled and bewildered me.
Considering everyone has either said "nice concept, bad execution" or couldn't take it seriously because of the masking/movements, I have NO idea what your problem is here. :|

Seriously, there's a huge difference between giving your opinion on a video and screaming "shit sucks". All the later does is make you look bad and cause drama, and it really doesn't help Mastamind to bash his vid like that.

And since when does source=quality? It doesn't really matter if he used Naruto or Alien Nine, it just matters how well he pulled it off.
-----

As for the vid, all I can really do is echo what has been said. Very interesting idea, VERY nice lipsync, but the masks and movements were pretty weak, moreso with the drums. Sasuke was really oddly proportioned sometimes as well. I'd like to see a remastered version when you get the hang of things more, but well, we'll see how it goes I guess. Still, it was pretty good for a first vid

...I honestly don't find anything funny about Sasuke, btw, but to each his own...?

We could also compare this to your 100 advent children videos, the videos you ripped when your name was gaydaj666, then cast to blown, then eblowtive. But this isn't exactly about me or you now is it? I've already said that what I said was harsh, the guy has potential, and the idea is creative. The rest of that post is just how I feel about the direction of videos in general, we see enough riotgear ridden garbage, we don't need to see more.

PS: I don't play elite, I am elite. :ying:

Mastamind, as much as I didn't like the video, congrats on getting some drama to herald your debut.
