Rapture** wrote:Pretty much neat video. Though a bit slow.. I was expecting something a bit faster.. Maybe it's because of the song? Meh,but I liked the song though.

Vid's nice, but I guess a bit too slow even for me..
Thanks Rapture. Glad you enjoyed it, even if it's a bit slow.
omegaevolution wrote: Anyway to the actual vid, I was kinda surprised that I indeed liked the song you used this time O__O, thats always a bonus for me. First I must say that I was kinda familiar with this anime already, haven't watched it, but I watched some vids here and there with it >.>, so I kinda got pretty easilly your story Wink. The effect you did in the middle of the AMV wasn't that new but it worked pretty well for me Very Happy . The atmosphere and the flow of the vid was great as well, you know that I really am not too fond with this kind of vids (and you have made a lot of them latelly >.<) but to be honest I really liked this one, imho your best one
This was a surprising comment to get, because I know you generally aren't really a drama guy and like action. I was also surprised to hear you say you like the song, for basically the same reasons...this is a slow song and you tend to like faster, heavier stuff. Either way I'm glad you liked this one, and I agree that this is probably my best.
aerialesque wrote:Pretty cool stuff. I'm not sure I liked the rectangular boxes in the middle of the video, but otherwise, I found this to be rather enjoyable. The storytelling was well done, and the effects work at the beginning were pretty nice, as well.
x2 on the rectangular boxes, I wish I had done the same thing I did at the beginning instead, I just didn't feel like spending forever finding 24 more scenes to put there :P Thanks for the comments!
Pas1990 wrote:I liked it. It's no real fault on your behalf if you put the hands clasping at the climax of the AMV, as it's a really suitable moment for it.

I've seen the movie, and the only AMV i've seen for it (apart from yours) was Koop's Waking Hour, so sorry for comparing the two.

I have to give this a 4/5, the only real downside (for me) was the song choice, I felt as if it could have been much more powerful and/or uplifting.
Well, I purposely chose a song that was kinda depressing until the end, and obviously a more uplifting song would have required me to change my concept completely. But thanks for watching and commenting, glad you liked it!
Kaxi wrote:I finally got to watch it. Man, this was beautiful, maybe the best i've seen from you yet. I liked the effects, i would have been happier if there were more of them in there though, i don't know why, i just like those boxes-kinda things. Perfect mood, i think that the mood overcome the story you wanted to tell. It really goes well with the music and it is just good to watch it, somewhat relaxing. An excellent quick video, nice job
Thanks! Glad you liked the effects, but as usual with my quickie videos, I don't ever make a lot, if any of them to begin with. Effects take too much time and I tend to think effect work can get to be intrusive in videos like this, so I kept them to a minimum for that reason as well. Either way, I'm really happy you liked the video!
Dark-Krystal wrote:A little too slower and I have watched lots of (good) videos like your on this anime, but the editing is pretty good and nice to watch.
Thanks for taking the time to download and watch this, DK! Glad you enjoyed it.

Wow, this is funny. I swear I'm not trying to get back at you, but despite that there definitely seemed to be a point, I just didn't get this at all either.

So I went and read the full description, which made me even more confused. I feel sorta retarded right now. Like, I understand the general direction of it, but how does the plane fit in? And Takuya with the gun? He made him understand he had to go back to his girlfriend with a gun?

If you look at it from an originality point of view, I'd say you shouldn't shortchange yourself at all : The storyline is completely different here. But I'm gonna go ahead and make the bold statement that you just didn't pick the right anime to tell it. The emotions you describe in your text, I just don't feel coming from the characters (Especially the girl), and so it feels fake, to me at least. I just couldn't grasp it.

On the editing side though, very solid. Especially liked the intro and bar effects : IC anyone? :P

And the pacing was pretty perfect as well. I like that you didn't feel the need to use any more shots than necessary : Somehow though, I just... It's weird, isn't it? I'd feel like saying this just isn't a story told clearly enough, but everyone here pretty much enjoyed it, so I'm kinda confused. I guess we'll see how my opinion evolves after a few more sittings.

Bah, hope you won't get too depressed by this : Just keep on making this stuff. The feel is right.

Oh, and one more thing to clarify :

Yes :uhoh:

I'm actually quite surprised you're the first one to complain about that. I expected more people to be haranguing me about some of the inconsistencies in the story, but whatever. If I have any excuse, it's that my description of the video's story isn't complete. You can fill in the blanks yourself; for example, perhaps Takuya was also friends with the girl, and the fact that she's like really depressed pissed him off to the point where he threatened his friend with a gun. It's not that unlikely.

As for the plane...I chose those scenes mostly because they were the only ones in the anime that fit the pace of the song at that point. And given the development of the story, I feel that those scenes also make sense in context. Maybe they used to fly around all the time just to be together, and now that they're back together they're doing it again to celebrate. Or maybe they're running away to start over. Again, you can kinda just infer this stuff from the development of the story...it's not meant to be 100% clear, and from my viewpoint it doesn't have to be because I still enjoy this video quite a bit.

Anyway, maybe you'll like it more now that I've kinda cleared things up, maybe you won't, like I also said in the video description, I don't expect everyone to like this, and I didn't make it for such a reason (and all this positive feedback is quite surprising to me, actually). Thank you for your honesty and interesting take on things, it's always very much appreciated :)

Your point of view does help, but it really only confirms mine. You'll get more detail in the op, but wouldn't the video be that much more interesting if you switched some of the shots of them being emo with say, them flying a plane in the good old days, so that it'd be that much more powerful when they did it again later? I know those shots aren't in the anime, but you can't really use that as an excuse for lack of detail. And there definitely are opportunities like that one you can use.

I mean, all this talk about editing to please oneself is great and all, but I know you also want to improve, and so I'll tell you this : I have one word for this vid, and that is one-dimensional. And as the maker of the video, believe me, it'll be alot easier for you to imagine the extra ones than for us, the viewer. But that was never our job in the first place, was it?
