Vent Thread

Post by TEKnician » Fri May 11, 2012 12:26 pm

Hmm...retarded people...:book:

Some lady comes into my store for Mac lessons. In our concierge system, it says she booked a topic on how to use her iPad. She then has a MBP with a slideshow presentation and had uploaded it YouTube and now wants my help to get her more views.

Not only is she retarded, she is...well, yeah that pretty much sums it up.

She had the stupidest and most poorly prepared slideshow I have ever seen and am wondering why in hell she never came in to learn how to make better shit. Shes been coming in for "lessons" for over a year.

EVEN WHEN SHE HAS TRAINERS TO HELP, SHE JUST WANTS TO DO WTF SHE WANTS. To get more views, I told her to change the title and add more tags. It's about kids voting to separate trick or treat night from Halloween and moving the date. Who really will care about it enough to watch a power-crap presentation on YouTube?

More of a rant than a vent, but I wasn't sure where to put it exactly. What is up with Hallmark holidays? Mother's Day is coming up, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why it exists.* Father's Day, Grandparents' Day, Sweetest Day... seriously, WTF? I'm very specific about telling people that I do not celebrate these fake holidays, and so they shouldn't expect anything from me on them - including acknowledgement that they're happening, because I typically don't even pay attention to that. (The only reason I notice them now is because I work in a bakery, which frequently has cakes and whatnot catering to the holidays.)

So what do I consider worth celebrating? Birthdays. Everybody's got one, so I don't need some blanket holiday covering some random grouping of people on top of that. Everyone gets one day where I reaffirm how much I love them and how happy I am that they exist. Be happy with that.

*I don't need the obvious "corporations invented them to make money" explanation. Obviously.

For me, it's because I feel that they're worth celebrating, especially the ones intended to show appreciation for certain people. I know, I know, "You should appreciate them all year long!" (which is kind of a cop-out, since you can use that on ALL holidays, really.) but I don't see a problem with showing EXTRA appreciation. As far as the corporate side of it, it's not always necessary to spend a lot of money, in fact I usually give people baked goods or food of some sort. >_>

I like the idea of extra appreciation too, but holidays designate appreciation. It feels more like an obligation to me, and is diminishing to how I feel about a person.

It's like being invited to a party that you really don't want to go to, even though you like most of the people involved.

Wanted to buy a cosplay wig. Yup 29 and I still want to cosplay....maybe because I never have before? I had my son at 21 and my daughter 4 years later.....hmmm maybe going to a convention in cosplay is better than going out all night drinking at some nightclub?

Anywho. Was looking to attend a convention hopefully for an AMV contest if I make it to the finals, but I doubt that will happen now. I found 2 shirts to layer and was going to wear skinny jeans with boots and a F'n Sheryl wig to go as Sheryl Nome. I didn't see the value in buying a full costume for over $100 + a wig.

I'm really pissed off right now. I am not getting any younger and I want to enjoy my life and maybe meet people I actually have something I enjoy in common with.

A wig for around $20 is a waste of money.

LMAO!!!! Good idea.....semi permanent to at that! Why not? May as well go all out. I just don't have long enough hair and I don't like managing hair that long. I'll have it thinned out again and why not.
