Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

This reminded me a bit of a Godspeed You! Black Emperor AMV i once watched. It also was made from very little source and had a similar kind of song.

I would have expected far more action to win "Best Action". This was more like a synopsis of Episode 26. Wich is a fuckawesome episode, but yeah, the song wasn't building up enough. Or rather it didn't peak high enough.
And because you followed the storyboard so tight one could think there was almost no editing at all.

And PLEASE:

Put up a spoiler warning, this is one of the big turning points of the series, if not THE turning point. I would have absolutely not wanted to see these scenes before watching the anime.

Very nice solid editing man. It had good flow to it, and a nice atmosphere. 4/5

I don't think he intended the video to win in action Image

I didn't want to imply it was his fault, I blame the judges for me getting dissapointed. It's still a good drama video. At least what I prefer to see in a drama video.
Also the stuff happening, wasn't drowned in visual effects. Wich is important to this kind of videos.

I suddenly have a lot of respect for the otherwise absurd premise of air-surfing mecha...

Wow, so many comments! I figured the title might draw a few people in. =D

First and foremost, to all the people who thought the song didn’t deliver:

I can’t make you like it, but I will suggest you listen/watch again on some decent speakers with the volume turned UP! It’s a very soft/subtle song. I could have done something like forced an increased volume on the audio but I didn’t because I was afraid of either a decrease in quality or screwing it up (since I don’t know half of what I’m doing still). So try it.

@CrackTheSky: I guess maybe it does help to have seen (or be a fan of) the series, judging by your reaction. After all, you're the most vocal E7 fan on these forums. Glad you liked it.

@Willen: Thanks, I was wondering if anyone would notice some of the more subtle stuff, her helmet straps swinging, charles's shifting/rocket boost, etc. All of it intentionally (more or less) timed to the drum beat where the scene changes are on the guitar riffs.

@Nunchuck, WC Annihilus: It was funny to see both of your comments back to back, I figured it'd turn out like this.

@N0OB: Thanks for the suggestion, turned out better than begging for ops on the exchange forum. =P

@chosef: I'll keep it alright. I'm a firm believer that everyone has a right to their own opinion. Only thing is, if you could be a little less lazy and instead of quoting someone in disagreement, suggest at least one thing I could have done better. The idea is, if you show me something I can do better, maybe my next video won't suck so much. >_<

@kiarrens: I'll have you know I watched this show as it was slowly and painfully subbed by nanashi, one episode a month (by the time I jumped in). CN has nothing to do with it, lol. Thanks for the op, my comments to you are in my reply to it.

@Verses: Thanks, good to hear.

@Kariudo: Thanks... about the music... *sigh* I'll add a comment above.

@Streicher: Yes, I know this isn't your typical "best action" AMV. I took your advice and put up a spoiler warning. It was actually all a ploy to get more people to download my AMV and ruin one of the best episodes of the series. Looks like the Spoiler Police wins this round...

@Vegeta119: Thanks, that seems to be the consensus.

@Kalium: Its not SO absurd, wait... yea it kinda is.

@MaBelle: Thanks, same EXACT thing to you!

Wasn't implying YOU caught it on CN, just that that's probably why there are so many vids to it lately. ^^ I feel your pain on the fansubs man, I did the same for a LOT of "now popular" anime.
