If I didn't get into amvs, I'd be writing fanfics and short stories in my spare time instead. ;p

Yeah, nothing's changed since I started making vids, except that I don't sleep as much - I still write as much, I still play my rpgs and read and watch movies, but I have lost a lot of sleep in the last year or so. It's all about time management - I haven't given up anything I liked doing with my freetime - except sleep. ^_^;

And yet I've gained a lot since I started, the ability to stick with something until it's finished being the key growth on my part. The rest is friends, a new outlook on forums in general, some interesting psychological insight to group mentality, and a sad longing for the good ole days, which is rather sentimental little feeling all by its self.

reading Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides was like learning about the birds and the bees ... although in terms of digital audio and video maybe that's not too far off as an analogy as to how much it helped me understand the topic. video editing has gotten me interested in psychophysics, and i've found a few psych perception courses very enjoyable partially because i could relate them to editing.

as for the forums, it is entertaining at times. perhaps not as much as when we had OT. but it is nice to get to know people and their idiosyncracies over time. kind of like watching a sitcom where you know each character's quirks. and its nice to see people change too, such as seeing editors from the instrumental anime project make progress over the 9 months that beast has spanned. it was also very cool to meet a few people from the forums at otakon.

but if i never got into amvs, i'd jus find something else to kill time. probably gaming.

my life really wouldn't be that much different if i did amvs or not. i would still be pursuing the sciences, still addicted to music, still getting a lot of anime dvds. making amvs just gives me some extra need for getting more music and buying more anime for "footage." as far as friends go i might have more online than i would have but in real life it's not really affecting me.

That's exactly what I was doing before I started making amv's. Well that, and watching all of the junk on T.V.

I'm not saying that my life would stop if i didn't have amv's. I would still progress through the medical field and would still hang out with all my friends, and would still lead a normal life. I'm just saying that AMV's have really brought out some of the best in me. It allows me to be artistic in a world where my best artistic ability was burping the abc's (which i can still do mind you). For some people, it allows an outlet for expressing there emotions (myself included), and for others, its just something fun to do in there spare time, especially when you live in a small town (myself included again).

I probably wouldn't be as involved in anime as I am now. I'd most likely be playing a lot more video games and watching more TV. However I'd have a lot less friends.
AWWWWWWWWWWWWW.

Also, I'd probably be majoring in architecture instead of multimedia. Wtf.
