Forum rules
Please observe the following unique rules for this forum:
  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.
  • When posting announcements, it is recommended that you include links to the catalog entries (using the video ID) in your post.
  • Videos that do not contain anime are allowed to be announced in the Other Videos section and are not required to have catalog entries.

oh just to pop back in on this, time and effects dont make a better vid. Planing is the key to a good or great AMV. My examples would be...the last few years of Iron Editor competitions that ive seen at AWA like Kusoyaro's vids and Meri & VegettoEX's vid they have a very short time to make a vid they use little or no effects(mainly because of time) and these vids are way better than vids ive seen editors take weeks to make. Oh and no being critical is not a flaw as long as you also give constructive criticism on how they can become better and no i dont mean "ya man your amv sucks cause like ya did not take the time to do better" What I mean is what were the good points and then what made the amv drag or make you feel like ripping out your eyes, was it lack of effects, too much effects, or just didnt go with the song.

There were no good points at all. I'm not trying to flame here - I honestly couldn't make it all the way through this video. The editing was simply not there. It was just a bunch of random clips thrown together, without any regard to the mood or rhythm of the song.

As for the effects thing...I don't think anyone mentioned effects making an AMV better, though I've only been skimming this topic.

The point is that kickass is putting out a new video every other day, and each one has the exact same problems as the one(s) preceeding it. He's not listening to our criticism, constructive or non, and while he obviously has fun making these videos, if he wants to become a 'better' editor he's gonna need to slow down and listen. If kickass is going to announce a new video as often as he does, he can't seriously expect not to get a response like this. I mean sure, he can keep putting out shitty FLCL videos until the cows come home...but I can't honestly say I've ever seen an editor who hasn't at least tried to implement constructive criticism into future AMVs.
