I thought it was pretty cool, actually. And didn't it get nominated for a VCA? That'd be "acceptable," ne?

It's been done but there are two traps you have to avoid

1. Audience: Especially on the org videos that feed off each other are tougher to promote because seeing them out of order or not all in conjunction can hurt each of the individual parts and it's tough to contorl how people watch them to get the full effect (and putting info in your video info isn't going to help much since we al know nobody reads that before downloading your video anyway).

2. Boredom: This is on your part, making a series of videos that rely on each other can get tedious because it can feel like you are working on the same thing agian and again and hence can either end up wit you being sloppy or just calling it quits early because you are tired with the concept (or have dried it out).

i think it depends on how you go about it... the "a song for everyone" series i think works rather well in or out of order

I only seen Bebop's S7 trilogy of vids for that. I enjoyed them, but I'm not sure if I would have not being a fan of the series. But..I only download vids of anime I like anyway... Heh, so they wouldn't bore me if I chose to download them.

I love the idea but it's hard to find any well-edited trilogies or such  I've tried editing a fanvid trilogy once and it didn't go too well....
