  • Please limit your new threads (not replies) to one per week. If you have several new videos to announce, create one thread for all the videos. (Note: if you forget one you can edit your post!)
  • Offsite links are allowed, but you are required to have a catalog entry for that video as well. Threads announcing videos that do not contain a catalog entry will be moved to the Awaiting Catalog Entry sub-forum and will be deleted in 2 weeks if an entry is not created.

Simple, yet complex in nature. I enjoyed it. ^_^

Reaction #1: What Fuze said.

Reaction to video itself: Though it starts strong enough, there seems be less and less in the way of action sync or scenes corresponding to the lyrics as the song goes on; just crossfade after crossfade or basic beat sync.

I thought it was all right. It seems LP is trying to add a sense of musicality in their songs these days... they failed. I was hoping this amv would differ a little from the editing style I have come to expect from you. I would go into further detail, but it's movie time with me and my girlyfriend.

Well, I try to keep to my same style usually. I agree that LP is adding things to their style that seems kind of odd for them to do after 7 years but it may end up being a good album hopefully.

Damn, I should've just looked here first instead of leaving a pretty useless op. xD

Anyways, after reading this thread, I'm pretty disappointed.

Although, I do kind of see their point of view. When I first watched this I was kinda meh about it, but then I watched it again, and now I can "see the light"? xP

It's kind of like, as an AMV editor, this is average. But now that I'm in film school, I can appreciate the artistic-ness of what you've done with this. Like I said in the op, your cutaways are very nice. The imagery you set is awesome.

As an aside, I like how you didn't show who Cloud was fighting much. It kind of seemed like you were intentionally trying to leave their faces out of it. Which I appreciated.

But yeah, your editing style in this looks really different - things that you can do with flat things such as cartoons, you cannot pull off looking as great on 3d as well.

But overall, this video was 8/10. Most LP vids are tying to action sync(and fail). You approached LP's new style of music with a new style of LP vid - trying to be artistic rather than "Omg emo, emo, YAY ACTION SYNC, more emo."

edit: Would also like to add, I really liked the rain shots. Kinda think you should've had more, but I know how limiting AC footage is, so oh well.

And I want to apologize for the op being so fanboy-ish. I'm sure I'll edit it later when I'm a bit more levelheaded.

.... I'm wondering when the announcements area got an edit button....

edit2: I love this button in this forum!
Anyway, wanted to say that 1:26 - 1:38 is my favorite part of the video, as the cutaways and imagery are simply perfect, especially Cloud falling ot the ground, and then witht he geostigma affecting his hand.

Decent video, all-around. It was simple, which I liked; however, the editing got rather repetitive halfway through, and by the end the video seemed a lot less structured than it was in the beginning. Conceptually, the video was also rather weak...not much originality here, but it was enjoyable nonetheless. As far as AC videos go, this one's well above-average, but in general I didn't see anything special in here.
