Ohh, I think that may be it. Actually, it's somewhere between this and your last explanation; in the dreams where I smoke I see myself as either some sort of rogue intellectual figure or a homeless artist and/or terrorist (I think that may be hinting at eventual fate, the homeless part at least

).
Otherwise, it's probably obvious anyway, but I've always had this strong association with "Intelligentsia" in the disaffected-but-pretentious-eastern-european sense. So I think that'd be an influence.
As far as an oral fixation, naw. I can't say I've, uh, experimented, but the idea itself isn't quite attractive. Particularly in the sense that you're implying!
I didn't know you smoked by the way. That's my first notable surprise of this thread
Random Oto fact: I have an almost unfairly effective long-term memory. I often remember seemingly trivial conversations for years. I often catch people by bringing up something they'd forgotten, but I have clearly stored in my head. For the same reason, have a ton of useful and useless facts and figures in my head. To augument that, I literally
read encyclopedias and dictionaries (as opposed to browsing or looking for particular things) - often daily and sometimes in binges.
I've also kept no coherent, let alone organized notes or packages of course materials for my entire schooling career. I never studied for exams either.
It's not all perfect though. In some senses my memory is selective. I have a horrible memory for names for some reason. I have an even worse short-term memory, and will miss appointments, deadlines and taking out garbage like you wouldn't believe
