Particle Illusion 3.0/ Sony Vegas 6.0 Questions.

I have Particle Illusion, an editing program that has loads of good particle effects, and Sony Vegas, which is a really good editing program as well, I want to use both of them but I have some questions:

1: How do I use both to edit one AMV or movie? Do I make the original AMV/movie in Vegas then save it, import it to Particle Illusion and add all the effects or is there another way?

2: Is there a way to zoom in on a special part of the footage in Vegas, I've seen people do this with Adobe Premiere but never with Vegas, so is there a way to do this with Vegas or is Premiere the only one that can? If it is possible, how is it done?

I don't know how Particle Illusion works, but if it's like a typical effects-centered program, what you'll have to do is either edit your clips in Vegas, then export the portions you want to add particle effects to, import those clips into Particle Illusion, add your effects, then render them out, reimport them into Vegas and put them on your timeline and replace the non-particled clips with the new ones.

As for zooming in, right-click on the clip, go to Pan/Crop, and grab one of the corners of the dotted box and reduce the size.

kthnx. I'll go try the pan/crop thing right now.

And, the same thing goes for adding effects with AE, correct? You just export the clip, import it to AE, add the effects, export it, then import it back to Vegas?

The Pan/Crop thing doesn't exactly do what I want it to do, or maybe I don't know how.

What I meant by zooming in is easing into a certain section while it's playing, but easing in very fast. How do I do that with Vegas?

Uh...keyframe it? Open the pan/crop window, at the bottom you should see a sort of timeline. Move the seeker to some point in the timeline, and then zoom your picture in. A diamond (keyframe) should appear. Now when you move the seeker between the two diamonds, the box will zoom in (or out, depending on which direction you move the seeker). You can move the keyframe to the left or right to make the video zoom in faster or slower. This is how all effects work in Vegas.

when you do the key frames just make it so on the second one the frame isnt so much smaller...

the speed of the pan will depend on how much you want the frame to change, if you do a drastic change it will zoom faster...

Now I'd like to know how I speed up or slow down certain parts of a clip, not the entire clip. How do you do that?

Right-click>Insert/Remove Envelope>Velocity

Double-click on any part of the green (brown?) bar that appears on the clip to add a point that you can drag up or down...add lots of points to manipulate only certain parts of the clip. If you're speeding up your clip you might have to right-click on the clip, go to Properties and check "Dsiable resample" because if you don't the video won't render correctly.
