Thank's Tsunami.

For people just joining us and not bothering to read the first page, this is a followup thread to an AMV Discussion that happens every Monday at 9pm EDT in IRC room #amv-review

We take video suggestions all week, pick one almost at random (it has to be interesting enough for discussion), and then everyone watches, op's it individually, then we have a discussion amongst ourselves about the video.

At the very end we clean up a log of the discussion so people who missed it can still participate. Further followup threads will be in AMV General as well.

This week, the first week we've done it, we featured Bryan Pardue's "Kei" video. This might not have been the best choice for discussion but we didn't have submissions for the first week.

I'd ask that if you're interested just drop in on Monday, and keep this thread for discussing the video featured. Thanks!

I didn't bother reading the transcript to see what was edited out or not but I do recall bringing this exact issue up monday. I still say you should post a thread in op exchange explaining what this is and asking for volunteers to have their video trashed. Doing this to unsuspecting editors is just begging for someone to run crying to the mods that #AMV is picking on them. More importantly, you're doing this to provide people with constructive criticism but not everyone wants that and many will totally ignore it. Why waste time doing this for some editor that isn't going to listen to a damn thing that's said when it could be done on someone who wants feedback like this.

last "off topic" post from me:

if you do what godix suggested and maybe choose from a group of submissions, I MIGHT be interested in joining the next discussion...

I just dont like the idea of blindsiding an unsuspecting newb who might not even want to be on the "chop block" or wasting my thoughts on someone who might not even want them... (one reason I havent left any actual Opinions in the last 6 months unless they have asked for it)

now for "on topic" (so you wont pm me about it later even though i asked you not to :/ heh):

thought it was interesting he credited bandai O.o
good video/audio quality especially for a wmv export O.o
had a pretty good mood sync at the beginning but about half way though it died and turned into a crack video... when i lose interest in my videos this is generally what happens to them too... i guess its good that i dont generally lose interest in my videos that fast? (or atleast that fast for me) :/
wmm color cycle always hurts..

I couldnt tell if it was supposed to be comedy sentimental or drama... i was hoping for more sentimental/drama but it kinda turned cracky... but that alright i suppose.

either way not bad/not good? i donno..

If it's online it's fair game, IMO. That said, there's no need to
trash an AMV, since at worst it's harmlessly mediocre.

I agree. I was harsh, but I hardly think that I trashed the video. After all, I was a huge fan of the tone match in the video. I do think the sound of the song and the pace of series go really well together. I just don't thank that tone match was well served by the execution as it stands now.

But it can be done. And I won't deny that this editor was clearly on the right path concept wise.

its one thing to do it on an individual basis, its a complete other thing to come at a video as a group..
