I think perhaps you may have misunderstood what that sentence meant. If a video isn't downloadable, then people can't see it online. That's all.

This is from the FAQ :

"Where are the videos?

You can search for videos using the Search for AMVs link on the menu. Some of these will be downloadable but some may not.It is a creator's choice to make their video obtainable."

So what is the sense to "find" a video that creator don't want downloadable... :?:

Hi Kitsuner,

It sounds like you want to have a video embedded but not let people download the file, and fortunately for the viewers you can't do that on this site. They can always download it and watch it on their own time as many times as they want. In case this wasn't your question, here's a short FAQ on how videos work on this site.

Q: Can I add a video so that people can watch them but not download them?
A: No, all videos hosted can be downloaded.

Q: Why can't I just let them view it in an embedded player and not give download links?
A: This site does not have a embedded player option. The only option when uploading a video is to make it downloadable.

Q: But I uploaded my video and it's still not showing up!
A: Some music artists have asked that no download links show up on the site if it is used in a video.

Q: Why would I still upload it?
A: This could be to complete your catalog incase in the future this policy changes, to keep a backup somewhere so you can beg admins to let you retrieve it, or in the future it may be possible to submit videos through the site directly to conventions, who may have arrangements with the artists and can play the videos.

Ack, what they mean is that they made an entry for the video in their profile, but did not upload it, nor did they provide direct or indirect download links. This is usually done because they are submitting it to a convention first, and will upload it later after the people in the convention competition have seen it.

The main point of the .org, moreso than providing links to and hosting for AMVs, is to catalogue every AMV ever created. Many people choose not to upload their videos here for several reasons, or make it so the videos can't be downloaded anymore - they think it sucks, it's been redone in better quality, they're waiting to show their video at a convention first, etc, but they want to help further the general purpose of the .org by showing that they at least created a video.

If there's a video entered in the .org's catalogue that doesn't have available links, and you absolutely must have it, you should contact the creator via PM or e-mail. It may be available in Minion's Vault. As a last resort, you can post a topic in General AMV requesting the AMV you need.

Click "Enter New Video" on the Members Main Page, and enter all the video information...and don't upload it. The info will be submitted to the .org's catalogue, but no links will be available because, obviously, you didn't upload it.

If you want the link for an existing video removed, you go to "Edit My Videos" and scroll down to where it says "Request deletion of bad video entry". You need a good reason to have it removed, however, besides the fact that you don't like it anymore.

Just create an entry for it but never upload it.
