2.5/5

Well, figured I'd check this out, seeing all the varied responses (but having missed the drama, apparently).
Video quality seems to be the focus here, so I'll address that first. Definately pretty slick at points, but others definately seemed over-filtered, with a noticeable loss in textures for a 'cleaner' source, which doesn't always look good.
As I called this a video quality centered video, there appears to be a serious lack of effort in precision for the overall action sync. There were moments where it was spot on, then others were it was really damn rough, and totally threw off the pace of the video. Not to mention it was inconsistant, jumping spastically between several focal points in the same segment, but as with before, this is in some segments, others not so much.
Last thing I want to mention, and I'm going to try and restrain myself, is the 'colour effects' (hue cycling) that you felt it seemed too plain without. Seriously man, hue cycling looks like shit in 99.9% of the instances it's used. If you want to spice something up, don't just throw on some junky stock effect that not only reduces the quality you strived to achieve, but destroyed any possible mood you could have built up to that point. In all honesty, I think it would have been much more effective to leave that segment clean and clear, as with the majority of the rest of the video, and let the editing be what makes it stand out from the rest of the video.

Overall, not a bad attempt, there's clearly thought in it, which is more than can be said for a lot of videos out there, but you need to really clean up those fundamentals. Kill the lip flap, tighten the sync, and avoid horrid-looking effects (not to mention entirely pointless at that particular instance) and then let the video quality and editing carry the video through.

I'm not sure how you got that I was focusing on just the quality of this video. I don't recall ever mentioning that in my comments. In fact I never mentioned the filtering until someone said it looked like complete shit. I don't see any details lost that are noticeable enough for me to outweigh the advantage of having a clean source vs. one that has pixelation and dirt with only minor details intact.

In any event, that filter wasn't just tacked on. It has been a filter I have wanted to use in videos for quite a while and this is the first song that I actually felt warranted it. If it did really miss the mark for you at least its something that you noticed wasn't the norm. Sync wasn't the only thing I was going for, I switched between scenes erratically at points, purposely. The concept was to go by the song but I also didn't want to do it as I have done a majority of videos by going in the logical sequence of events I also changed some of my editing back to the style I had almost abandoned.

If you didn't enjoy it, all I can say is I tried, but its really hard to see if you are saying you hated this video or liked it. Maybe you shouldn't dance around your opinion and just come straight out.

My apologies then, I thought I was pretty clear. I can list things more simply since you seem to rather that over any explanation:
+ Quality in most parts
+ Pace and general editing technique
- Overfiltering
- 'Colour effect'
- De-sync
- lip flap

In summary, no, I didn't like this video as a whole, there were segments I enjoyed, but the overall package was lacking.
