Using Intro's in an AMV
I personally think that making AMV's using intros are ok as long as they dont use over 5 seconds of intro in total and as long as it's parts of the intro that doesn't have title credits.
Was just curios as to everyones thoughts on using scenes from an anime's intro sequence in an AMV.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

x2. And I don't believe in specific, nitpicky rules like "only five seconds per video," because originality is, IMO, a good thing. But I do think that some common sense points would include:Otohiko wrote:http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... hp?v=55604
1) Try to avoid titles. Clean OP/ED sequences are pretty common on DVDs. Which is where you're getting your source. Not off the damn internet.
2) If the animation quality of the OP is much, much different from or better than the rest of the series, make sure that it doesn't jar the viewer out of your video.
3) Be aware that the viewers have usually seen the OP/ED more often than any other shots in the series. They may be sick of it. Or it may be a cheap shortcut to identifying a show in the middle of a multi-anime video. Just be aware of over-familiarity, either way.
All of these can be followed by the disclaimer "...unless you're doing it intentionally for some reason." As with anything else.
Other than that, do whatever fits your video.
This concludes tonight's performance of Duh Theater. Thank you and goodnight.

opening scenes are video material just like any other material, and like other material you have to think carfully about what you are using. If it has credits on it then it is pretty much the same effect as seeing a clip with subs on it, it distracts the viewer and takes away from the amv's quality. There are also some scenes in anime which are used, and reused over and over again in many amvs and therefore will probably be boring if you make them a main part of your amv. However, depending on the theme of your amv and how it is set up, an amv can be perfectly fine with intro scenes. You just have to use them effectively.

I wish they were all that easy to find. I went through 14 R2 Bleach DVDs, spanning 3 opening sequences, without finding a single clean version of any of them.SarahtheBoring wrote: 1) Try to avoid titles. Clean OP/ED sequences are pretty common on DVDs.
