That was the best part of A Clockwork Orange. The scream of horror when he saw Pwolfs track was so damned convincing.

Oh, and to answer the question, don't upload it to the tube. Just point them to one of the people who put their part of animix up separately.

imo, that's a pretty elitist attititude to take against amv watchers. not to single you out ari or single out this occasion, but i see it a lot on the forums.

i agree that the original poster shouldn't upload animix to youtube, but not to separate the dedicated amv fans from the lazy, rather, because it violates youtube's terms of service and you are doing so without the permission of all the animix editors.

I don't think he was fishing for an answer...not everyone has murder in their hearts for YT, so he wanted to know what the general consensus was. :\

I don't think we see enough of it, myself. If we did, we wouldn't get so many "I have to download footage, I'm too young to get a job" threads. There's too much expectation that things should be free and easy when really, it's an expensive hobby. I'm against elitism regarding file formats - that "if they're too lazy to download the newest codecs, they don't need to watch my vids" vein. But now we're saying people shouldn't even have to download the videos in order to watch them? That's like saying people shouldn't need to find their own access to a computer in order to make amvs. Hobbies don't work that way.

And the idea of encouraging someone to make vcds because the potential viewers "balk" at having to download themselves just strikes me as wrong. Real life friends too poor to own computers, sure, it's really nice of you. But not people online who "can't watch" only because they "balk" at downloading.

I looked at his join date and jumped to the wrong conclusion. I just figured someone who's been on this site for 3 to 4 years would have noticed.

I didn't look at his post count. He's never really posted on the forum, so I guess he wouldn't know any better. >.<

Even though I enjoy AMVs and have a fast connection I usually
don't download files over 50MB. I'm previewing most vids on
you-tube, and more often than not the bandwidth savings are
justified (and, ironically, it alleviates somewhat the load on the org).
I still think that an average AMV size of 10MB is reasonable, but
clearly I'm in a tiny minority.

Well, thanks for the advice, I wasn't fishing for a particular answer. I just wasn't entirely sure how to proceed, since the Animix is a combination of really awesome and really large (it takes up something like 20% of the space I have for AMVs... but it is awesome). I think I'll do as you guys suggested and stick to local showings, such as when I have some friends over.

Think the group would mind if I put it on a CD and gave it to my university's anime club? They have weekly screenings, and though I'm not entirely sure of the results, I'd like to think that they'd be able to do the most with it.

as far as i know i dont think that they would mind, but if all else fails, you can pm the first person on the list of names at the top of the project (they are usually the coordinator) and ask.

I don't use VCDs for those reasons. I mainly do it:

1. To get my favorite vids off the computer and onto the TV.
2. After I have them on it, I give them to my friend who enjoys watching AMVs but doesn't know about this site or make them or anything. Basically something cool for him to watch, since he enjoys watching them when he used to come over and watch them on my computer.
