Footage: The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Artist: Smashing Pumpkins
Song: Tonight, Tonight
Size: 36MB
Duration: 4:14

Okay. Here it is. Video #10. And if you liked this one, there's a far better Zelda video I made a year ago that was hugely ignored. If you want to see what I'm talking about some more, there's some rambiling in the link above. Hope you enjoy it in some capacity.

okie dokey am curious *downloading*
sync needs some work... and the black bits are slightly off, need to work on your scene selection vs music in the heavier bits.
The visual quality is fuzzy... but I don't know if thats from your source of not.
I like the last third of the video better.... :)

2.25 on the star average. Harsh. Really don't think it's worse than my FIRST VIDEO EVAR.

So far I've received three 2s, two 3s, one 4, and one 1. Seriously though, it's not that bad. Trigun: There There is BAD. Cowboy Bebop Everlong is BAD. Maybe someone could enlighten me why every video I've done since Iris (which is BAD, but people LOVE), has had a poorer reception than the video preceding it? It's really a remarkable phenomenon. Even the Trigun video that was a remake, which fixed a lot of problems of the orginal first video scored below the original.

Well I'm a big fan of irony.

I just want to know what I'm doing wrong is all. I see these things being less and less liked and I don't know if they're just not as good as Iris, or if my tastes in entertainment are moving away from that. Iris, I thought, was highly manipulative and forced the viewer into feeling an emotion that wasn't real. There was no thought involved. Since then, I've been going for more and more subtle touches with these videos, so hopefully you can catch certain hints and nuances upon repeat viewings.

Maybe I'll just talk to myself next time.

Iris is a popular song and I've noticed that you get a better recption 'in general' from doing mainstream stufff... I know Sweet's is getting some good reviews on her nightwish stuff and that band is so overdone. So maybe that will help explain it for you.

If you're quick I think there are people giving free op's on the opinoin exchange still who will spend the time to nitpick and give you more detailed feedback than I did above... not sure why I bothered really

I didn't see your edit. Thanks for the advice and small critique. Even though it's small, it's better than nothing.
Spoiler :
This is what I was trying to do: Tell a story of this sort of secret war and how it changes everyone apart of it. The video moves chronologically through the game's story, starting at scenes before the game began (the invasion of the castle is juxtaposed with Ganondorf's escape to show who Zant is really working for and why he should be feared [Zant is the other villain in the game and video). From that, we move to a small village. We see Link, Colin (the little boy), and Ilia. Something bad happens which makes Link want to leave, which he does. The black fades were only meant to occur when there weren't lyrics. Then suddenly we switch to Midna watching Link as a wolf, looking a little mischievous. She agrees to help him and then we see the reason why Link left in the first place.

Next, he gets the Master Sword. "That life can change, that we're not stuck in vain." Afterwards is a little montage of the other characters from the village. "We're not the same. We're different tonight." We see Link as a farmhand becoming a hero. There's Zelda a prisoner. There's a slight resolution to Colin and Ilia (because they were introduced, I couldn't leave them out. That would be sloppy storytelling). Colin becomes a bit of a hero himself, and the shot with Ilia is when Link finds her again, though she's lost her memory.

The song then moves on to its third act. It's almost the same as the opening, which is why I gave a little more backstory to Midna (originally it was an extended version of Link saving Colin, which made for unnecessary filler). Here we see why she would like to go up against Zant as well, and why she's helping Link... but it's only because she's thinking of herself. The scene by the lake, Link and Midna are confronted again by Zant. As we're building up to something really bad about to happen to Midna again, we jump a little into the future like what was done prior at the village scene, showing Link (and Zelda) willing to help out Midna, a reverse of what was done before, but for selfless reasons. Then we cut back to what really happened (again, as was done with the village sequence), to see why her colors were inversed and why she wasn't looking so good there on Link's back.

After that is the final confrontation with Zant and Ganondorf. I think it's pretty self-explanatory. Midna moves Link and Zelda to safety while she tries to take Ganondorf on alone and dies in the process (signified by Ganondorf crushing her mask in one hand). At the end, Link delivers the final blow, fueled by her death (this is where it gets manipulative), and Ganondorf dies on his feet. Link begins to step forward, and we see what he sees: Midna's crushed mask. Although if you have played the game before, it's not too explicit to say that she stays dead.

So perhaps I bit off more than I could chew. My other Zelda video, Of Time and Wind had about a minute more to mess around in. I am incredibly aware of the fade changes and the editing within Twilight Tonight, because while I was trying to match the music, I was also matching the lyrics, because I think this is a good, powerful song, and that most of the power comes from the lyrics.
