VERY large renders and shortened/trimmed effects (Vegas 6.0)

Post by Melichan923 » Sat Feb 03, 2007 5:23 pm

I have VEGAS 6.0 and I finished an AMV On Windows Movie Maker. I saved it on Window Movie Maker on great quality but I need to change to format to MPEG-2. So when I import it to Vegas and save it on MPEG-2 under BEST render, it comes out HUGE (150MB), has a blurry picture and the effects are shortened! It also seems to be in slow motion half the time. Please help. I really need to figure this out quickly. Thank you!

150 mb sounds about right...

if you have vegas just get rid of WMM already

have you tried this:
save from WMM at the highest quality,
clean and recompress it to lagarith with Vdub mod & Avisynth
then run it through Vegas compressing to mpeg2...

i use Vegas to make my mpeg files, its a little fuzzy (compared to my master) but, not too bad.

if you start out with a higher quality master then you shouldnt lose much quality when you recompress to mpeg2..

as for the skipping and stuff, im not sure what to tell you about that O.o
what kind of file is it when you put it into Vegas?

It's a WMV when I upload it into Vegas.

As for the other thing, I have no idea what that is. I guess I have a lot more to learn. Lol.

Thank you. I hope I get this fixed because I spent so, SO much time on it. :( I used WMM for it because the clips wouldn't import, just the sound for some reason. I have trouble with AVI files going into Vegas.

That's probably because you're putting files encoded with DivX or XviD into Vegas. If you convert them to a lossless codec such as Lagarith or HuffYUV then you should have no problems - read about that here.

Thank you so much! I just wish I knew about that ahead of time... then I wouldn't be having this problem.

If anyone knows how I can get it to work, please give me feedback because I don't really want to try to re-make it. :( Lol...

do you still have the WMM project file?

if you do re-export it from WMM as the highest ql you can get, and then see if that works when you bring it into Vegas

Yes, it was high quality video large in WMM. I'm pretty sure that's the highest. I saved it as a movie file, got it into Vegas and saved it as best render in MPEG-2 format. :( Maybe there is a better way to save it?

I appreciate that you keep trying to help me. :) Sorry if I am bad at explaining things.

first try exporting from wMM like this guide says (or render as the highest quality WMV you can make) then try the AVISYNTH stuff recommended in the guide

(do you have the amvapp? it will be helpful cause then you will have the programs listed in this guide)

anyways, export from Vdub liek it says in that guide as a n avi, and choose the codec "Lagarith" THEN try running it through Vegas?

No, I don't have AMVAPP. I'm really sorry that I haven't gotten a chance to reply. I've been busy. Thanks so much. I will do this over the weekend when I have time and then I will let you know if it worked. :)
