need some help
i new to AMVs so when i decided to try and create my first AMV, well lets just say Murphy's law came into effect, so when i asked around in my anime club i found out that the software i was using, VirtualDub, was too advance so to make a long story short do yall have any advice on what software a newb like me needs and yes i did look at the faqs, in fact the one i have been using is "VicBond007's Guide to Working with DVD Footage for Use in Anime Music Videos"

anyone who says vdub is too advanced is a fucking idiot. not because it's easy, but because you HAVE to learn it, so it being diffucult isn't an excuse.
in short: don't listen to your anime club. they don't know what they're talking about.
it's not meant for making videos though. it's for applying filters, doing minor touchups, compressing, cropping, resizing, ect.
if your looking for an editing program, theres premiere, vegas, magix, pinnacle, ect.
in fact, i'm holding a contest right now, with the most recent version of magix as the prize.
WMM comes on PC.

magix movie edit pro is the cheapest, running about 40 to 50 dollars.
pinnacle is like 70. it's limited compared to magix, but it's easy to learn

i think ill go with the cheapest, one more question if you are using multiple dvd volumes is it better to make them into one project file or do you need to split them up and use them that way some how

i usually just edit with wherever dvd decrypter splits the episodes.
editing with an entire dvd in 1 file would be an extreme pain. you'de be scrubbing alot of footage

There's no good reason that I can think of to make one big file. It'd be a real headache and an absolute pain in the ass to scrub through.arcticstorm058 wrote:i think ill go with the cheapest, one more question if you are using multiple dvd volumes is it better to make them into one project file or do you need to split them up and use them that way some how

Clipping 1 DVD at a time takes a good 1-2 hours to do if you're thorough. If you choose to go that route (and need to do a lot of filtering) you can save time by clipping in batch mode through each DVD and running the batch file with filtering for however long it has to go for. For example, I clipped 12 DVDs reciently. the clipping took me a good 15 hours to complete and the batch files (heavily filtered) ran for about 2 days. Fortunately for me, I was working 12-hour shifts those 2 days...
