I got leaked a beta for this a while back, and I was really impressed, so I obviously had to get the site release.
Coolest thing about this video is clearly the masking/rotoscoping, which was so damn crisp in some parts it seemed to be part of the original source, though there were a few instances where it seemed a little rougher in comparison.
Seriously though, really slick stuff : up :

Oh my! Well, I better start writing. 0.0

Anyway, I don't mind the nitpicks, they let me know people watched it.

I should have responded to all these sooner. I really didn't expect this much feedback, so soon. Thanks guys, and keep the feedback comming.

Great work hereVery innovative and fun to watch. I said it once but you're definitely on my list of editors to watch. Keep up the good work man.

Thanks!Willen wrote:It took me a little bit to get into this video. I wondered how the live-action and the anime would mix and I was surprised at the result.
Good job Judge!

I understand your points. As for the visual quality, I thought I lokked pretty good, and I figure JubJub would have told me if it looked like crap (She let me have it on the DVIX version).Esrhan wrote:Even though Lost in Translation wasn't the most accurate description of the culture and place it was shot at, it was a rather good movie to go watch with someone. That in mind I had no idea what to expect from this AMV.
Hm, after watching I was slightly disappointed. You started the video very nicely, with the various overlays here and there mixing anime with live-action quite extraordinarily, but slowly the pacing degenerated into a rather randomly done action video set around the word "jump". It seemed like you dropped what good and original you had in the beginning, and decided to just quickly finish the video.
Maybe cutting the song short would have made it easier to keep the original concept what you had going on in the beginning? Because to me at least, it seems the first half of this AMV is genious, but someone lacked the effort to finish it to the end. I would easily give it 4 stars but it goes too much downhill after the first segment.
Just my thoughts.
Forgot to mention that there's something wrong with the video quality. Either you had a really bad source to work with or you filtered it too much. Looks a bit awful for a 55 megabyte mp4, actually.

Part of it to was to make it feel like a "real" video, so that's why she is there. Plus I felt her costuming and the background made her look like a cosplayer .... In fact she looks a hell of alot better than many cospayers I see at cons.Szwagier wrote:Lost in Translation + RODTV the way you did it = ftw, but Madonna parts ruined this vid for me :< You said in the description that you wanted to do vid about "wandering in the daze" - and madonna (imho) was destroying this mood.

Ha! So you guys and gals who disliked Madonna can blame Shazzy! It was she!Shazzy wrote:(in response to Manhunter)Shazzy wrote: Liked it.
This should have been live-action though. That would be cool.
See, I said you should do live-action. I was SO right. Best work yet. ^^

Ya, believe it or not, that motion traking was far harder to do than it looks. The main issue was that most of shots where hand-held as opposed to dolly, therefore the was a ton of camara shake. I could have stablized the shots, but that would have taken out the organic nature of them, and ruin the effect of feeling like you are looking through her eyes. I'm glad you noticed them.JCD wrote:I somehow agree with Esrhan, the first third of the video was awesome, while the last two thirds were "just" very good in contrayMore of these motion-tracked screens you replaced would've been great since those looked awesome and blended into the footage perfectly. But that was propably hard work too, I could understand getting tired of doing that it quickly.
Still, great video

Poor Madonna.rubyeye wrote:I'm not going to be nit-picky like everyone else. Overall impression was that it was a very well edited video. Combining live-action with anime "creatively" isn't easy, but it flowed with the music and it was enjoyable to watch. It kept my attention all the way through (unlike alot of videos where I randomly click around to see if there is anything good before I delete it after the first 30 sec.)
But that's not important.![]()
Anyway, I liked it. I think it's one of your better ones. I'll reserve my opinions about Madonna - trust me, you don't want to know.

See above. (Blame Shazzy, She's my scapegoat now on this matter).Nessephanie wrote: I liked the live action and anime mix, I think you did it well, but I thought that the madonna segments didn't suit the other two and it would have been better without.

I pretty much have to agree with everything that JCD's already said so far. And I have to say that I really enjoyed watching it the first time but since the actual flow is slow and it doesn't quite make sense to me yet it gets boring after the 3rd time. But that motion tracking was very impressive I must say. Good work you've done there.
