A friend of mine is looking to get a good program specifically for making AMVs and such. We need one that is easy to use and will make good, professional-looking videos. Price range is up to $300.
Can anyone suggest a good program?

If you can get academic versions of Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0 or Sony Vegas 7 + DVD then I recommend doing that for $300.
If that isn't a viable option, and you don't mind using an older version, then I suggest Vegas 6 (OEM) as mentioned in this thread: $99 Sony Vegas 6 (full version, not Movie Studio). It's still in stock I believe.
The consumer versions of these programs both run for about $100. They are fairly cut-down, but may suffice for your needs. You can get these at nearly any store that sells computer software.
Magix Movie Edit Pro 11 (or 10) is cheap ($50 or less) and fairly powerful. Especially for the price.
