AMV DVDs
I was wondering if anyone with a high quality widescreen lossless copy of there video could convert it to DVD format. I guess it might be considered pointless since I never see anyone have a download available for their videos, I've only downloaded one before and that was AMV Hell. I will host videos if I like your video a lot, is widescreen, and is very high quality. I like to watch widescreen AMVs on my HDTV through my DVD player. I have converted this video before and it looks really nice, but I don't want to go converting videos already lossly compressed, even though the video looked really nice on my TV, I still would like the best quality possible. So if someone could convert their widescreen video to DVD format that would be great. If you don't know how, I can explain, there are free methods of doing this.
Also do you already have a DVD version, don't care about hosting? Well NEway, just let me know because I just really would like to check out nice looking widescreen AMVs on my TV monitor. If you have one, want to make one, would like hosting, let me know. I'd really like to see a good amount of widescreen AMVs in DVD format, maybe this topic will help in that.

The .org upload limit for single videos is 100 megs.x_rex30 wrote:I have a download available for one of my videos in DVD format. It's been downloaded the same amount as the xvid version has. The video is only two and a half minutes long and the file size is 101mb. I wish more people had DVD versions in their profile.
You do realize that DVD compliant mpeg2s will most likely go over 100+ megs right?

I keep huffyuv copies of my vids, now, have for the last year or two. The older ones sit in little rar files on cdrs just in case I ever need an uncompressed copy. I keep them because they're mine, and because I can, not because I ever expect to actually do anything with them.
I used to mail out dvds to people who emailed me with excessive trouble downloading/storing my vids (cause I have a lot of vids). I discontinued that practice real quick after one person harrassed me for weeks over a buggy disc, then had the nerve to email me out of nowhere months later asking me to resend the entire collection because her friend stole them from her dvd collection. Like I'd believe that.
Way too much crap for the trouble. Now I only do it for a very few people, and then only if I'm going to see them in person or they swear they'll never use the return address to annoy me.
I have a lot of trouble making dvds - there's almost always one or two vids per disc that won't play right, and it's time consuming. If I ever get my HD tv fixed, I might decide to distribute dvds again. Until then I just tell people my vids aren't good enough for dvd - they were made to be watched on the computer and then deleted. I'm the only one who should want to have my entire amv collection, and even I don't have them on dvd (the distro copies weren't even all stored on my computer at once until I got an extra harddrive for space issues). It's a weird waste of time for other people.
That said, I did make a dvd of other people's amvs to hand to a friend at Yaoi-con last year. With so many people distributing 90+mb vids, it's not *that* hard to convert for dvd format and still maintain quality. I have to admit watching some vids - like The Race - on a big screen tv is absolute joy. ;p
If my own big tv worked I'd probably be making a lot more dvds for myself. There's no point doing it now - my working tv has a smaller screen than my computer and it only has one speaker.

I am talking about direct/indirect links, do you not realize that? Maybe if you clicked on my profile of 10 videos, you may have stumbled upon a link, and maybe if you read my first post, talking about me hosting and all, you would of realized I wasn't talking about local downloads. and I mentioned the size and length of the video for a reason. 101 mb for a 2:30 video isn't that bad IMO. Hosting a video that is 4 minutes long and a bit bigger wouldn't be a problem to me either. And it seems people like that they can download a DVD version since the DVD has been downloaded as much as the xvid version.Castor Troy wrote:The .org upload limit for single videos is 100 megs.x_rex30 wrote:I have a download available for one of my videos in DVD format. Not many people have the servers to support those kind of downloads.x_rex30 wrote:I am talking about direct/indirect links, do you not realize that? If it's not too big (around 200mb or less) I don't mind hosting it, while my space last.. I might be running out soon.. but I could host at least 2 gigs space worth. If my bandwidth runs out, oh well.. and I don't mind hosting till I start running out of room. I think I only have 5gb or something. But I've uploaded a lot of videos and still have quite a lot of space left. People seem to have enough bandwidth to host MEPs and If they can handle that then why not this? I'll probably be updating my server soon so it could handle more. Right now though I could host a few if anyone is interested. Has to be wide screen though so it fills the screen on my TV.Castor Troy wrote:Not many people have the servers to support those kind of downloads.
