Taking It Back to Square One...

Post by Anjira » Sun Jan 14, 2007 1:57 pm

Alright. After having uploaded two of my amvs, I have realized something of great importance. During the creation of my amvs, I come up with these huge concepts that I try to express to my greatest ability. Yet, from all of the feedback that I've received, people thought that I was either too weird, or that the concept was the only good thing about the amv. Also, some just flat out said that they sucked, but w/e. So, what am I doing wrong? Should I scrap all of the intellectual aspects and make some eye candy that people will like, or can I find some middle ground where both my concepts and my editing skills can coexist in harmony? Should I become simple-minded and not think so damn much, and focus more on my editing or what?

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Help, yes. 400 an hour to start with, and it may go up depending on your problems. Let's start with a little free counselling however. Just make videos for yourself. If you want actual editing tips, use the Op Exchange, and if you have a question, PM the guy who left it till he either coughs up an answer or your banned for harassment. That being said, an intellectual attempt intrigues me, watching now.

screw what other people think, do what you like doing and if by some odd chance even 1 person likes it other then you then awesome if not then who cares cause you did what you wanted to do. That's the whole point of creating amv's isn't it? Expressing your own values, ideas, creativity, editing styles and what not in your own amv's and if others hate it then thier ideals are just different apparently.

I won't say their are no crappy amv's out there, obviously there is; but if you are really trying your best and doing what you want to do then that's all that matters.
"The people cannot be [...] always, well informed. The part which is wrong will be discontented, in proportion to [...] the facts they misconceive. If they remain quiet under such misconceptions, it is lethargy, the forerunner of death to public liberty. What country can preserve its liberties, if it's rulers are not warned [...] that this people preserve the spirit of resistance? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants."-Thomas Jefferson

Intellectualness in AMVs? It makes me want to actually look at your profile. What great marketing! This calls for a banner; now if only I could muster up the motivation to open up Paint.

^_^ Yes, I agree with everything that you guys have been saying, and I am totally for a movement where amvs are not done with flashy effects and overused songs from the mainstream crowd. Let intellectual ideas pour through! XD

Anyways, I will try to takr your suggestions into consideration, and just work harder, I suppose; it's all that I can really do.

But what if that's what someone wants to do?

Makes you think...

Damn...you're right. I suppose I shouldn't say that because I'm being judgemental for those people who do just want to use flashy effects and the like.

Hm...if someone could do an intellectual video with flashy effects, I would be pleasantly surprised. Maybe that's what I should strive for. :P
