No. If they're not 90% anime footage they're not allowed to be listed here. That doesn't even count toward the "parody vs amv" debate. It looks like this particular video is just one of those rare known exceptions that defies the rules because someone in charge said to leave it alone. It's not the standard, just a little preferential treatment.

It doesn't have a link, either, and the creators couldn't qualify for the vcas if they decided to become active again because that parody doesn't list music. Because it's not an amv. Which it says right there on the description page. So...that vid's a great example of how even people making parody vids know they're not amvs and don't belong on this site. :P

Actually I put a parody on the site. It's profile is still there although I did remove it's direct link. Not because it was a parody, but because I decided it sucked and didn't want it available. I never heard a word from the mods or admins about having it listed in my profile though. Of course, my parody was actually in a con and won something so maybe that had something to do with it's acceptance. Either that or no one pays attention to what I do anymore which is just as likely.

The value of these kinds of vids can't go overlooked, but I wouldn't classify them as amvs unless there is at least some music in them. Maybe somebody should start AnimeParodyVideos.org.

I'm just looking for them to finally release the damn DVDs of Otakudom and S.T.E.A.M. or update their web page at all...

Um, "This Is Otakudom" IS almost totally, if not totally, made of anime footage.

DVDs have been done for months now (though I still haven't gotten copies and have never seen S.T.E.A.M. the whole way through even though I provided some minor voices). Webpage, I don't know. Maybe Lukas graduated or something?

My mistake. I was going by the vid description about it being controversial because it's "anime fans going to a convention, commercials, etc" and didn't really pay attention to the "mostly fushigi yuugi footage" part. I guess there's no link only because it lacks an audio listing and not because it isn't an amv.

How would one go about gettign these DVDs? I'll gladly pay for one, but given the site has no info on it regarding them, I'm not sure what to do... guess I'll just fire off an email (assuming those are still valid).

Well, there's also the fact that it's 52 minutes long and therefore highly impractical for online distribution.

Far as I know, Scott's e-mail address is still valid, yeah. That's how I'm planning to make my own request when I finally get around to it.

According to creators, apparently... though I habitually download things that are 10 times that size or more, so I really don't understand where that viewpoint comes from.
