Midnight Dance

Post by phics » Thu Dec 21, 2006 2:17 am

This is my first attempt at an AMV. I'd appreciate all the feedback I can get. I'm interested to hear what people feel I did wrong and right.

Cheers!

Here's a hard link to the AMV: http://www.animemusicvideos.org/members ... p?v=135114

For a first attempt I have to say that it's very well done! Music / video sync were excellent and choice of music and anime was good overall. Keep it up! I'm looking forward to seeing your next project!

well it is not so bad but either it is not so well as it could be.

1) you have to change the sync because at the begining when it said ¨wake up.... blablabla....¨ it doesnt understant what it is about. I dont know if it is the delayed of the computer that i am using of the scenes are wrong but eventhought if it is my computer those scence are wrong. If I were you i will take it out and put another part (1 more happily to introduce the characters) i dont said 1 that doesnt goes with the threme but a better one.

2)It seems that you heare a lot of music before choose that 1 because that threme is quite good for a love clip and the ending it is quite good so I will not change it because it is well done and I like it.

I see that in a future if you change those aspects of that i have told you before it will gonna be a great AMV

You're right. At first glance the first scenes really don't seem to fit the first verse in the song. I know a lot of AMV's stick closely to the lyrical content of the song so that it's almost 'word for word' visually. That wasn't really my intention, however, so even though I can't say you are wrong, I opened the AMV like I did because I felt it did fit the theme.

Shiki doesn't clearly remember the killing, (their first meeting). The euphorical effect of his state of mind was almost like a drug to Shiki, but also like an awakening of sorts, (this is presumably the first time he'd used his power to kill another person). The irony is that the violence of this meeting is precicely what helped create the bond in their relationship for Arcueid as well. I know it seems a little dark, but that's a part of this anime's flavor, and the song is actually pretty dark as well, (even the first bit).

I think this does fit with the song and justifies the first scenes, but this might be lost on people who haven't seen the anime. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time my logic hasn't produced the best overall effect, (in spite of my limited abilities and inexperience), so I eagerly invite in any critical comments about this!

I know the sync and editing quality could use some improvments. Also interested on pointers that might apply for this as well. Again, thanks for taking some time to comment! Cheers!

ahh now I see what was your intention.
But i dont said that the images must just like the threme.
what i was trying to tell was that all the plot and the ending of the song does not match with the begining it is only that. I can suggent you not complicate so much the thing, be more simply on the begining of the story because the most dificult parts are the begining and the ending of the song edition .If you consentrate so depply in the story you will not mach so well the images. that is what have happened in these case it is just a trick for making good amvs

That's a good tip, thanks. And you're right, I could have probably cut some of the scenery at the beginning to give it some more breathing space and to make the AMV a little more consistant.

Again, thanks. Before I make any changes to it though, (if I do), I'd like to hear a few more opinions as well.
