Slight problem... [video doesn't show]
Well, I'm very new to this software and I was trying my hand at an AMV. Well, when I put the clip into the video area on the timeline and played it... All I saw was black. The audio was there, but not the video. Any ideas as to what could be wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like a codec problem, so...
DON'T EDIT WITH DIVX/XVID-ENCODED CLIPS!!!!
Problem solved.
Since you probably don't know how to convert the files, though, first thing to do is to get the AMVapp. Then, use VirtualDubMod to convert your files to either Lagarith or HuffYUV. You'll probably want to read this guide to learn how, and you should read it anyway because it'll save you a lot of trouble.

Then consider yourself lucky and enjoy it while it lasts. Here's why.~The~Thief~Rikku~ wrote:Unfortuantly it's pretty strange to hear that, Because I've used that program for quite awhile and I dont think I have had a problem like that
(You know, somebody should really mirror this page somewhere else in case something ever happens to the AMV Wiki, what with the recent state of stagnation it's fallen into.)

Yes, that happens. Thats why you make clips... or get really big harddrives.jmoneyg wrote:i just did the thing with virtual dub mod and it changed my file from a 174MB file to a 2.4GB file!!

instead of re-encoding entire episodes you can take small clips (in vdubmod) and encode those (in vdubmod).
~350 clips at ~1 second each takes up ~6GB (using huffyuv, lagarith yeilds smaller files)
when in doubt, Read ErMaC & AbsoluteDestiny's Friendly AMV Guides
(it tells you how to use vdubmod to make clips)

Re: Slight problem... [video doesn't show]
I will say the virtualdud and mod happen that to me instead I found a codec for my video to use my WMM try this codec ---> Free Codec All in ONE it decode your video format and you can use this in your WMM if you don't want to use the virtualbud I never recommend this before bcoz i thought it not gud but I try this more than 5 months and it's not bad then I use other video editing program too beside to my WMM. Hope it can help you this one ^_^Btalboy wrote:Well, I'm very new to this software and I was trying my hand at an AMV. Well, when I put the clip into the video area on the timeline and played it...
