I think the reason that can't argue is boochsack more convenient far than .org. I'm sure that we can find anything we know (except xxx ofc) in boochsack.
If you ever come to asian countries, you will know that we spend more time in a internet cafe, game center,... more than in personal computer. That means in those place they never update their video codec, so even if we want to use .org, it will take damn long time. In that case, boochsack more convenient, sad but true

I uploaded my first amv on dial-up, it's a long wait but possible.
even streaming videos are hard for 56k...it's just a matter if you want to watch it while it's downloading (and have to re-download it each time you want to re-watch) or wait for it to finish downloading (and not have to re-download again)
If I wanted to, I could make an account and upload my stuff to youtube (definately a possibility)...and it'l get many more views (and probably followed by comments...of which most of them would be rave reviews that aren't very helpful...but it would be a nice mood booster), but the moronic part of the internet population seems to gather there (for videos)...so I like the org better (where you can get good quality and intelligent discussion)

I second everything Kariudo said. My first three videos were uploaded on 56k. Downloading videos on dial-up sucks eggs but I hated streaming even more because I still had to wait long and I only got to watch/listen to whatever I was streaming once. Downloading was god forever (unless my HD crashed) which is why I did and still do prefer it. Hosatchel (they should change the filter back, I'm not really excited about all the new "what is youtube" threads that I hope won't pop up) has its advantages in terms of spreading your work, but for me, personally, that's no advantage. I don't even sign up for conventions, so why would I use hosatchel? I understand why it's a bundle for people who just want everyone to see their work, but I prefer old-fashioned server transfers or five hours on MSN to send my newest AMV to a friend... *sigh*
And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

due to the people uploading full eps to the tube and the japanese anime companies complaining, several amvers have been hit in the crossfire (had their accounts frozen and videos taken down), its still against the sites rules to upload anything with coppyrited content unless you own the coppywrites yourself (some MUSIC aside due to deals they made with music companies, but that doesnt account for the VIDEO portions)...
i would advise against uploading there unless you would like your work to be trusted in the hands of people who "dont" really want them there in the first place...
i think its an okay site for beta testing, if you dont mind the really low quality (my betas are usually really low quality wmvs anyways, so there wouldnt be much of a difference to me) but i wouldnt leave anything up there perminantly... and as someone mentioned its great for showing your vids to people who dont know anything about codecs and "complicated" stuff like that.
I know im one that has a rep for uploading her own videos to the tube, but lately ive been thinking of taking down all my anime videos, due to the incidents ive been seeing spread across the site... not to mention they get plenty of attention here anyways
AND a few of my videos have been uploaded multiple times anyways :/

I've tried hostachel for 2 of my videos, Zetsumo and Enoz feta SOS dan- Forever. The Haruhi vid (later one) did far far better as far as views and ratings (4 stars and 6,355 views to date) than Zetsumo (266 views, but 5 stars) or even the version on this site. Zetsumo on the other hand did far better on this site. Of course thats Haruhism for ya. I have a feeling Zetsumo is just not that searchable, I probably need to but Naruto or something in the title ;p regardless, Im just trying to support scintilla's argument that there is just a larger potential audience to reach on Y0utub3 than here, so I wouldn't think any less of people that choose to use both.

I don't see how uploading a video file to Hosatchel would go any faster than uploading it here (or, if you're not hosting it locally, then uploading it somewhere else and linking to it from here). There's no minimum file size requirement here; you can make your video file as small as you want.canikizu wrote:And for the record, there are some people like mewho can only use dial up 56k to upload their work.
