That was incredible. Broke out in a cold sweat watching it.

I had Beefhearts' 'Safe as Milk' but I don't remember any of the tracks being as out there as that (I could be wrong though). I'll have to check out more.

The artist formerly known as Captain Beefheart is an avant-garde painter that presently resides somewhere in northern California, living reclusively with his wife and cats, as he has since retiring from music in the early 1980s. Although he has not been seen in public for several years, sources suggest that his overall health declined significantly and he is suffering from Multiple Sclerosis.

He's known for producing fantastic works such as The Corn Thief:

Oh, you're in for a treat. For all its goodness, 'Safe as Milk' was a sort of transitional stage for Beefheart.

I highly recommend his most renowned Trout Mask Replica, Lick My Decals Off Baby, and the trio of his last albums - Bat Chain Puller (Shiny Beast), Doc at the Radar Station, and Ice Cream for Crow. It's music that's not for the faint of heart, of course, but quite consistent with the level of 'out there' that you heard here (and then some).

=| I was forced to watch this and my hunch at first was right. Its experimental but doesn't take itself seriously. Thus it becomes a carnival of things that sync rather then really stand out. This is mainly due to the song and ofcource choice of concept. This is why it doesn't attract so much people I'm guessing. Either way on the experimental point here, its bin done before like that a couple of times. Its not really something new but then again I'm guessing its experimenting on a personal level so to say. Either way I cant really reply serious to this video so don't take any of the above serious.

6.5/7 - 10

ps - H264 in avi? You brute... ;_;

Maybe that's a good thing? :lol:

Fair enough, that was the point. Note that I said that it was a "failed experiment" both in the announcement and the description.

I think it actually hasn't been done before so much as likewise bizzare and dare I say pointless videos have been done before. What you may or may not have missed, aside from the obvious and passe stabs at the "editing technocracy" (how many times have even I done these now, let alone others?), is the evident stab at originality for originality's sake.

So, forget taking itself seriously - the "video" (and I use the term loosely) can't even resist stabbing itself (and me) from the outset.

But nay, Beefheart hasn't been done before, nor anything remotely like him. I'm just ashamed that he still hasn't been done well, but I have to at least fire the first shot. There is no justice in the world without Beefheart videos - and I guess that's something that only Beefheart fans will ever comprehend (and we take the guy very seriously).

Thanks, a most objective score there that doesn't stray far from my own assessment of it, except I kinda find it funny. I guess that's natural.

Yea, I don't know much about h264, and I realize most people don't do it in .avi. But it worked out fine, amirite?

Thank you.
