Posting AMVs on Youtube.
Would you think any less of an AMV maker who put their work up on Youtube before putting selected works up here?

Not so much intended at a insult to you as a complaint about the recent trend in the community. Who gives a Godix what others think. Srsly people.
New word filter already? I liked Hot Satchel! YOU-TUBE!kusoyaro wrote:We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

youtube. hosatchel. youtube.
Bypassing it is still easy (the worst part is I learned it by quoting Phade
)
Some people probably do it to avoid having other people put there things on youtube before they do. If the video is on their account before it gets to other peoples' accounts, the hosatchel managers (i intend to type hosatchel forever regardless of the changes) "have" to remove it.
I still don't see why they care, but it's their problem not mine. I'm actually flattered to know that two of my videos have already been stolen and reproduced.

And God spoke unto the Chicken, and He said: "Thou shalt crosseth the road", and the Chicken did cross the road, and there was much rejoicing.

It would seem I didn't actually put the image on my webspace while I could still get it through Google caching...

To answer the OP:
That depends on the intent.
Not to say I don't see pluses to youtube, but my question to any serious AMV editor is "why?". The only explanation I can see is lazyness. The .org is not substantially more difficult to use than youtube, and yet it offers far superior quality and many purpose-built features to accommodate the AMV community's special demands.
I go to youtube mostly to watch cheap videos of shit blowing up. It's just easier to find there. I wouldn't say the same for AMVs, nor would I usually put AMVs into the same category as shit blowing up.

The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

I wouldn't think less of them, but I would wonder why they did it. If it's because you can't figure out how to work ftp, then that's just laziness. If it's to get quick guaranteed feedback, it makes perfect sense to me. You might not get harsh critics over there, but people are a lot more likely to respond to videos on that site than they are to even leave QCs here, let alone 2+ sentence ops.
I got more feedback on my last vid over there than I did here - most of the ops I got here were actually *from* people who saw it there. I had a direct link over there, no reference to the org at all, so that tells me how far out of their way they went to find the vid here and leave feedback on it. Unsolicited feedback is a lot slower over here for mediocre videos.
