Check out any of Arigatomina's early vids. In my opinion those are some of the best in WMM.

That, or a lot of patience. Personally I don't find it that bad for getting the actual timing right, but the linear editing style is a royal pain to work with, especially if you're trying to get some tight timing going. Frankly, I upgraded less for better capabilities, and more to have something (anything) that didn't use linear editing. Beyond that I really didn't care much. Although I am enjoying the multiple video tracks :D

You can time down to almost less than a second in WMM, you can do multiple overlays if you just think a little, though it's not going to look as pretty as if you just did it with another program. And you can add different effects into it, so WMM isn't as bad as its reputation. You just have to think creatively....unless you just want to overlay 9 .2 second long clips over one another in only .1 second...then you should probably use something better.

i like being able to start with the end... or do random parts first...

instead of starting from the beginning O.o

gives me time to do the parts what i want first, and for the rest im not sure of i can do those later :P

WMM is a pain to work with, but people CAN make good videos out of it if they work hard enough...

These are two of mine that have gotten decent rating, they are not 4s but I still love them as my own. I don't generally like to pimp my own videos but here they are. I will go cower in shame in a corner later. Please note that the bottom one was my most technically challenging one (in MM2), the top one everyone seems to enjoy more though.
