Mask/Matte Mania: Shape Motion
With the insanity that I've seen involving crazy masks/mattes I thought it might be fun to write an application to create them. The best part is that I don't even know the potential/capability of my own application! It's kind of open ended.
In the most basic sense it is Adobe Premiere's motion function. You plot and configure a couple of points and then magic happens. (aka tweening) This tool also includes the ability to create multiple "lines" of animation at once. (Something premiere 6.x does not support... dunno about pro etc.)
You can download an alpha version of the tool here:
http://www.nhmkamv.com/shapemotion/ (info, samples, quick test instructions as well)
Here's a sample rotation that took more time to render/convert to xvid than it did to create: Download
Any ideas or comments?
... and no you don't get bonus points for crashing the app ... as it's not hard to do! Though if that's your kind of thing maybe I should put together a beta test group... hmm...
Note: I didn't get any responses in General Video... I figured this might be the place to bring up the discussion considering this is the hub of all posts where mods are nice enough to move topics from hahaha.

It exports an AVI file using whatever codec you specify and can be used by any application capable of using an avi as a mask. I know premiere can do this. I do not know about those you mentioned (it depends on how they mask).guy07 wrote:only one question ....does it work with vegas, magix and other programs?

Do you mean just general distortion settings? Or do you mean duplicating the illustrator functionality? (wave/flag, etc. etc.)Minion wrote:what do you have planned for the beta release? *crossed fingers for envelope distort*
Your own shapes from which application? I am guessing illustrator probably uses a proprietary file format...Moonlight Soldier wrote:It would great to be able to import our own shapes >_>

as for importing shapes, EPS file support would be great, since every vector art program can export an EPS file (illustrator, free hand, flexi, corel draw, ect.)
